Posted: 5/4/05 at 4:32pmfrontrow- I agree with you 100%... People dont like to think when it comes to shows. And all shows have varying degree's of sustinence but thats lost on alot of the audience. For instance, integration of America in the 1960's during Hairspray.. alot of the undertones of that were lost to most people I know who saw the show.. In Wicked, I saw alot of metaphors to our current political situation and the theme of facing oppression and hatred, and how people respond to it. Most audiences come out looking at how Elphie flys and how pretty the actors sound... but to each their own...
