When I was in Beauty and the Beast, I thought that the first act was imppossibly long (but maybe that's just because I was a Silly Girl and was offstage for the longest time). And when I was in Oklahoma the first act also felt very long.
Usually when I watch shows though, I don't notice or mind how long the acts are, unless things start to drag (even though when I first saw the Into the Woods DVD, I remember thinking that the end of first act was the end of entire show -I love that show though).

A great deal of the theatre programs in my collection from London from the 30's to the 60's indicate -and these are for big musicals - performacne shcedules of Mon-Fri at 8:30, THREE shows on Saturday (afternoon and two evening 5:00 and 8:30 or 6:00 and 9:00) and a Sunday matinee. That leaves Sunday night off...
