I think that a lot of us - being in the theatre, or being in New York - whatever - forget that homosexuals are a minority in the country and are still treated as such. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that there are probably hundreds of thousands of hate-filled people in this country that don't blink an eye at tragedies like Matthew Shepherd and the countless other hate crimes commited against homosexuals in the country EVERY SINGLE DAY. (And I won't even begin to comment on the "religious" types...)

All of this to say: how could any gay man or lesbian in the country have anything bad to say about someone like Lance Bass coming out? Why would we do that to one of our own? Regardless of your opinion of N'Sync (I've never really liked them), I have the utmost respect for the guy and HOPE that he can use his celebrity (again, how many pages is this thread - obviously the public cares) to possibly open a few eyes in this country.

We don't live in a bubbble and one more public voice in the gay community will ALWAYS be welcome - even if he can't sing! Lance Bass: I'm Gay
