Well as a Sox Fan I want to congratulate the Rays on winning the ALCS. Nice to see that the AL east is no longer about the Sox and Yankees
With that said Go Phillies.

I was legit shaking watching that celebration. As a Yankees fan I'm so thrilled for the Rays--almost everyone was counting them out before the season started.
GO AL CHAMPIONS!!!

Really I like several of the Rays players.
I'm just annoyed that most of the people at the game tonight only cared about them when they made it to the playoffs. They were in first place since the middle in July and they still played to a near empty stadium. But I am happy for the fans who were with the team when they were in the basement of the AL East for all those years.
I also hate it when teams give fans props (rally towels, thunder sticks, rally monkeys, cowbells) What ever happened to just cheering on the teams?

Posted: 10/20/08 at 12:12amUnfortunately, these are the times we live in. Fans (not all, but most) have become so fair weathered and only care about winning and being part of an event. Most of those seated near the dugouts spend half the game on their cell phones. It drives me crazy. But in defense of the Tampa fans, they have endured many years of awful baseball. So perhaps they didn't believe in their team until they actually made the playoffs. They won't have problems selling out next year!!

They took of the tarps on the upper decks for games 6&7. My understanding is that the views from up there are bad and the catwalks block the view.
I read this interesting article before game 5 on how a Phillies- Rays WS will be a ratings nightmare for Fox. But the ratings have been low for the past few years. Should be interesting to see.
Fans on cells phones annoy me so much! I see it all during games at Fenway. Makes me want to scream.
The Sox put up a great season despite all the injuries and the Manny Drama.
The injuries did show how deep their farm system was with guys like Lowrie and Masterson coming up. What else can be said about Jason Bay? I love this guy so much and he did a great job in left field.
For me though its Hockey season time.

Posted: 10/20/08 at 12:29amThe Red Sox were right there and it could have gone either way. The bright side for Sox fans is that even though it seems the Sox have been up there for so long, the core of their team is very young. Unfortunately, the absence of Manny really affected Big Papi in the lineup. He did not get pitched to the same as before. They just need to add some pitching and maybe a younger catcher. They'll be back...I love that dirty water......

I don't think it was Papi missing Manny. Its clear that his wrist is still brothering him. At least he has to off season to let it heal.
Nothing really worth getting excited over in the FA market for catchers. Plus there really isn't anyone in the farm system. Maybe there will be a trade in the off season?
Pitching wise there is Buchholz who hopefully will get everything together for next season and pitch well.
I hope Lowrie is the starting SS. Anyone is better than Lugo

It's especially great considering what the team salary is compared to the overpaid Yankees. The two top players on the Yankees make more than the entire roster of the Rays. But of course the Yankees can never play fair. 209 million to 43 million. Congrats to the Rays for showing that salary does not equal skill.

They deserve to win it all.
Maybe if the METS watch they can learn something.
