Rove's parting words of wisdom.

Rove's parting words of wisdom.

Interesting tidbits:

1. Democrats are headed toward repeating Vietnam-era mistakes that gave Republicans the upper hand on national defense for 30 years.

2. This last election was a very close election, and I think they misread the results. They think they’ve got some mandate to raise taxes and blow up the budget. It’s just unbelievably out of touch with reality.

3. My hope is that Congress decides to put the best interests of the country ahead of whatever political ambitions or schemes they’ve got.

4. Rove said he believes history eventually will vindicate Bush. As one example of the reason, he cited improvements in reading and math scores since the passage of the No Child Left Behind Act

5. In a time of war, he has utterly transformed the foreign policy of the United States. We take the economy today for granted because it’s so darned good. This is a guy who has overseen big changes.

Oh, I thought it was the comment that the first thing he plans to do after stepping down is go dove hunting.

Will he be hunting doves, or lame ducks?

You'll love the link which compares Rove and Cheney to famous Germans of the 1930's and 1940's.

Yep, They're Nazis Alright

If Tom DeLay is The Hammer, then I proclaim a new title for the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi: The Briber. Nancy Pelosi had to bribe her members with spinach to get their votes.

From The Washington Post:

"Asked by our colleague, Peter Baker, if there is one, just one, thing he really, really regrets, Rove said: "I regret accepting that invitation from CNN and going to that stupid dinner and getting turned into MC Rove."

Really? Worse than Iraq? Surely that "Rappin' Rove" routine at the White House Radio and Television Correspondents' Dinner in March wasn't that bad."

Interesting rebuttals:

1. Democrats are not anti-defense. To paint them as such is a lie. They ARE anti-messing around with those who aren't intending to harm us. Democrats don't make everything phallic.

2. What is out of touch with reality is asking people to pay in order to not die from sickness. It is immoral, and it should be illegal. Not to mention that hardly any of the Dem noms for president are talking about raising taxes. They are all about not giving tax breaks to the richest Americans who have no use for those dollars except to spend more extravagently.

3. That is my hope, too. Sadly, Iraq is a bad example. As is almost every policy Rove was strongly behind.

4. This is laughable. Reading and Math HAD to improve -- when you're on the bottom, there's no place to go but up.

5. I'll agree that Bush has transformed out foreign policy from legal to illegal -- breaking almost every international treaty the US has signed onto. We shouldn't be at war -- who are we fighting? Bush and Rove have never been able to answer that question. This is an intelligence issue, not a military issue. The economy is hardly good -- have you seen the real estate market or the stock market lately? Good heavens! calling it "so darned good" is nothing short of a lie. Which isn't surprising when it comes from a known liar.

Here's my thoughts, Karl:

1. Republicans are repeating Depression-era mistakes that gave Democrats the majority for 30 years.

2. The last two presidential elections were very very close elections, and I think the Republicans misread the results. They think they’ve got some mandate to cut taxes and blow up the budget. It’s just unbelievably out of touch with reality. It's like they went on TV bragging about their "politcal capital."

3. My hope is that Congress decides to put the best interests of the country ahead of whatever political ambitions or schemes they’ve got, unlike the way the Republicans ran it.

4. Rove said he believes history eventually will vindicate Bush. Of course you say that Karl. You have to. Even Barbara is more realistic.

5. George Bush's two legaicies will be the complete and utter way he ruined the US's relationship with every country in the world and his abandonment of the Geneva Conventions. It will take at least a generation to rebuild our alliances.
