A NEW BRAIN auditions

Hi,

I was cast in New Brain last year, it's a great show- heres some info to help you out....

"A NEW BRAIN" is a touching musical that revolves around a middle aged gay man, Gordo, who writes music for a popular childrens show. He ends up passing out in the middle of a date, he is soon diagnosed with brain problems. The musical surrounds his newfound problems: dealing with death, what life means, liking who you are, acheiving your goals, etc....It has a great score and it's lots of fun, a lot of the musical takes place inside his head, which leads the audience into a really creative world- with a full score of jazz, gospel, standard Broadway, pop, and much more..

Now for the intresting part: the female characters. Well since your only 18 you probably wont be considered for Gordo's mother or best friend Rhoda....There are two other strong female roles you might be considered for: The Homeless woman and the Nurse. I know, they don't sound like amazing roles---but they are. The homeless woman has 2 or 3 solos, and a lot of duets. She is kinda like the weird woman whose always there when you need her and just happens to have great advice. Her whole character is kinda a metaphore...But A lot of the times she is played older and/or black.... The Nurse was originated by Kristin Chenoweth and plays a few more roles....All the female roles must be strong belters, and I think they all belt an E atleast. Theres a lot of a cupella singing and A LOT OF HARMONIES... The music is quite difficult..
