I keep picking up the Norway (?) Witches of eastwick when i'm in the Dress circle but cant bring myself to spend £24 on it. Does anyone know if its worth buying ?
I'd recomend the Czech cast recording if you are already familiar with and like the score. The audio production is slightly more 'raw' than the OLCR which is great for the chorus numbers - Eastwick Knows and Dirty Laundry in particular - but there is some odd musical direction and ropey orchestral playing here and there. It does contain the only offical recording of 'The Glory of Me' and the performers give it their all (it's a mix of two different principle casts). Now if only they'd record the UK tour with all of the most recent changes to the score...
I think the only other foreign laungauge recordings I have are Les Mis in French (1980 and 1991) and shows where there isn't really a choice of an English-language recording (Elisabeth, Tanz, Glockner et al).
