re: Friday Night on BWW

Someone over on the WOS board has done a blog entry about his top five West End costumes. It's kinda inspired me to do a blog entry on the top five West End puppets. And I think I'm going to appall people by putting 'Avenue Q' at 3 and 'The Lion King' at 4. XD 'Lord of the Rings' and 'War Horse' absolutely PWN for puppetry.

I also think I have an unhealthy thing about horses onstage. My favourite LOTR puppet was the Ringwraith's horse, and I think my feelings on the disturbingly sexual nature of the 'Equus' horses have been well documented. ^_^

EDIT: http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/warhorse - GET BOOKING. ALL OF YOU. It's... probably the best show about a horse you'll ever see. ^_^

Everyone needs a fetish Weez..yours is just slightly more rare than a a fetish for young topless male dancers which erm i believe is a fetish that a "friend" of mine chooses to endulge in...*shifty eyes*

whos at number 2 weez?

I like the Shogun puppet at the end of Pacific Overtures, when it comes to life as a human demagogue.

re: Friday Night on BWW

'War Horse' is my number one (here's that link again, for maximum pluggage! http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/warhorse ) for puppets, 'Lord of the Rings' is my number two. I got very annoyed at the audiences making unnecessary amounts of noise at the Shelob puppet though. Yes, you don't like spiders, it's a tense moment, I get it, now STFU!

And I started running out of puppets, so I'm having Audrey II as my number five even though I've (don't hurt me) never seen 'Little Shop'.

I think you'll find that my fetish combines beautifully with your *ahem* "friend"'s fetish; it's only the 'Equus' horses I find sexy, and they're dancers in tight tops. The other horses? I just think they're awesome. :3

Acaila! You're brand-spanking new! Tell us about yourself! Where are you based? What are your favourite things? Who are your favourite people? Are you old or young, male or female, and which way do you swing? Obviously only share as many details as you feel comfortable sharing, but you've slotted so neatly into discussion, unlike so many other new people, that I almost didn't notice the fresh shiny gleam on your username!

re: Friday Night on BWW

You've been here three months; that's like a decade in internet terms, surely. :3

Same questions to you then! Or should we make a whole new thread for telling everyone a little about ourselves? I know I get confused for a fella an awful lot, although it's not as bad here as it is on WOS. XD

re: Friday Night on BWW

Eek, my cover is blown!
I was trying not to look too new and all!
Well, I'm female, 21, drama student from Edinburgh at the moment though originally a bit more rural (far far away from the Mecca that is the West End) and I swing for hot revolutionary students, rangers from the north who turn out a little more regal, and Russian grandmasters (partic. when played by Josh Groban <3).
My favourite things? Well, raindrops on roses and whiskers on...ahem...
Musical wise, my favourites are: Les Mis, Chess, We Will Rock You, LOTR, JCS, Spamalot, Hair, Time, Urinetown. Favourite plays are a big crazy mixture.
(and I've still never seen Little Shop either!)

Anything else? Heh, I sense one of those "What's your favourite show/song/recording/actor/actress/theatre" moments coming on! re: Friday Night on BWW

re: Friday Night on BWW

My first West End experience was Mary Poppins. My first professional theatrical experience was The Will Rogers Follies.

Before that the exposure that I had was mainly tv and movies (The tv recording of Into the Woods and the film of Little Shop of Horrors really grabbed my attention at a young age).

The first cast recording I bought was Into the Woods on cassette.

Three big theatrical experiences stand out in my head. Deaf West's production of Big River, a puppet version of Japanese ghost stories called Kwaidan, and Punchdrunk's The Masque of the Red Death.
