I'm helping a friend's mom decide which shows to see when she takes my friend to NYC and there's one day we're having trouble with picking shows for. We have it narrowed down to 3 shows, all of which are $65 tickets and all of which are a few seats on the side of Row B.

La Cage
DRS
Sweet Charity

Everyone pitch in their two cents, please.

Agreed, definitely DRS and I guarantee you most of this board would agree.

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

A little background would help here...has mom seen lots of shows already (the Phantoms, Lion Kings (blech), Fiddlers, etc). Is she a conservative mom? Are you only looking at musicals and not plays? And when will mom be here?

I'll be a dissenter here and say DRS may be a bit crude and obnoxious for some people.

No Wicked?

DRS all the way re: Help Me Pick Shows

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

If she's open minded, then La Cage or DRS would be fine. If she's not..then your only choice is Sweet Charity.

Out of those three, I would reccommend DRS.

I did not find DRS to be crude--but I like a bit of bawdiness and an element of surprise. My vote is for DRS.
