I just finished listening to Rachel York's solo CD, "Let's Fall in Love," and that is exactly what I have done with every song on this album. Her vocals are extraordinary. In her voice there is a little bit of Ella and a little bit of Streisand, but there is also an unmistakably delicious sultriness that is all her own. She has a magnificent, pure, silky-smooth and richly textured voice that reflects what she feels in her heart. She has brought back the Big Band sound with her own special contemporary flair. She's funny in "My House," sassy in "Let's Do It," longing in "My Funny Valentine," and seductive in "Sooner or Later." There is love in every note.

You may think you've heard these standards before, but trust me, you haven't heard them like this. The orchestra that backs Rachel is pretty swinging, too!

Check out the complete track list at Barnes and Noble. The link is http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/product.asp?userid=692JQJkAjo&WRK=9292863.

Pardon me while I leave now to listen again.

Aww. I'm already in love with Rachel York! Her Norma Cassidy is the best thing about the OBC and DVD of "Victor/Victoria." Hilarious every time! ROBBED of a Tony nomination.

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

I totally agree, Magic. At least the critics got it right with the Drama Desk Award.

Don't forget the Demo on BWW.com Radio,

Lyrics by Leipart,

which includes Rachel's fantastic recording of

"When The Camera Isn't There."

Oooh, that is such a beautiful song, Jose'. And it is so uncanny how much Rachel sounds like Marilyn Monroe - only better! I wish it would play in the rotation more. (Hint hint) :)

I can't wait to find out how she does in AHren/Flahherty's Dessa Rose--such a different role for her!

Ahh, I love Rachel York. Have been a fan since I saw her years ago in Scarlet Pimpernel. That still remains one of my favorite experiences as an audience member. :)

scotty,

You made me laugh out loud! Good thing I had finished my coffee. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Rachel gives special thanks to "the love of her life" on her CD jacket.
