The general AP style for apostrophes with words ending in 's' are:
*If it's a proper name, don't add an extra s, whether it's singular or plural (Chris' coat, the Joneses' condo)
*Just the apostrophe for plural nouns (the bees' hive)
*'s for singular nouns -- unless the next word begins with an 's.' (the boss's coffee spilled on the waitress' shirt)
Chicago Manual of Style is different here too.
