SLINGS AND ARROWS!

Has anyone else seen this absolutely fabulous Canadian TV Show?

It's a Movie Network / Showcase exclusive about a theatre festival (pretty much Stratford, but they call it New Burbage) and the drama behind the scenes, starring an insane genius artist director, the ghost of the previous gay artistic director that haunts him, and his insane aging diva girlfriend.
It's got some really brilliant writers and stars some of the finest actors in Canada (mostly stage actors too, not film, which makes a refreshing change).

The first season had Luke Kirby and RACHEL MCADAMS!

Just finished watching Season 1 on dvd. It was excellent. Can't wait to get Season 2. Truly a gem. I strongly recommend you put in in your cue or rent it. They also run it on the Sundance channel.

re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!

Bumping this thread up because I just came upon by chance a marathon of Season 1 on the Sundance channel last Sunday, and loved it. I became obsessed and could not leave my tv for the 6 hours it was on. Season 2 is airing back to back this coming Sunday (2/19), and I really recommend watching it. It's absolutely brilliant, and reminds me why I love acting.

Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone) is a writer, and he also made a small cameo as Terry in Season 1.

re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!

I just found out about Bob Martin being one of the writers. Also Don McKellar, who wrote the book of Drowsy Chaperone with Bob Martin, is a regular of the series. VERY funny guy.

Truly... if you have not seen it, get it on dvd. It's available on Netflix. I can't wait for Season 3 to be released.

If you are involved in theater in any way, this series is a must see.

re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!

YES! I haven't been much of a regular watcher, but sometimes I catch it on Showcase. So funny. I love Paul Gross!

Bob Martin talks about it a bit in his American Theatre Wing interview.

re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!

I just started watching the first season via Netflix, and I am in love with this show!! It's especially funny, since I'm rehearsing a production of HAMLET right now.

Windy - the second season is as good as the first (built around Macbeth.) The third (and probably last re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!) is filming (might already be done,) and focusses on Lear.

re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!

The third season was on Sundance already! Waiting for the dvd.

re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!

See, DD, this is what I get for never watching TV! Is the DVD a pre-order situation?
#11

re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!

I can't see it anywhere for pre-order. I just remember seeing Season 3 advertised on Sundance in December, and I figured the dvd shouldn't be too far off.

re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!

I just viewed the pilot after hearing incredible things about it.

And if I could sum up my reaction in one word, it would be:

SDMFKL:SDHGISDORP(Y*R(YY*$#(DSFHOS(DGO{A(UY*RE(_YEW*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus, it has Mark McKinney, who was involved in the creation of one of the greatest and most quotable comedies of all time: KIDS IN THE HALL: BRAIN CANDY!

re: SLINGS AND ARROWS!

I have seen Season Three. It will make you cry, both from hysterical laughter and from deeply moving and poignant performances. Remember the great Bill Hutt playing Charles Kingsley/King Lear just died about 6 weeks ago. It will make ever scene with him even more meaningful.
