Variety has stated that Ken Davenport (Altar Boyz) has nabbed the theatrical rights to "Somewhere in Time". I always thought this would make a lovely musical if done right...so this excites me. Of course the recent attempt at musicalization of "Time and Again" never went anywhere and was full of problems. I thought "Time and Again" would be fun because of the NYC location. "Somewhere in Time" is a much more romantic story. Who do you think would be the best writers for the show? Adam Guettel, Lucy Simon...I know they are composers...I'm drawing some blanks on lyricists and book writers now....it's late for me.

How wonderful to think that perhaps Christopher and Kathy Reeve are now once again reunited just like at the end of the "Somewhere in TIme" film...

Actually, her name was Dana. But your thought is a lovely one. Someone on another board said something similar, commenting that at long last Christopher and Dana Reeve were finally able to embrace each other...

awwwwwww...that made me teary. i have thought of that today too.
its sad that dana died so young but how wonderful that they are together now. at least that is what i believe.

i LOOOOOOOOVE the idea of "Somewhere in Time" being made into a musical! ken is a smart producer..i hope he has someone brilliant to do the music. i think lucy simon is a wonderful choice..ahrens and flahrety? knowing ken, he is working with new and up and coming composers.
who would we like to see IN this show?
here are my picks
Richard - Steven Pasquale/Aaron Lazar/Kevin Kern/Matt Bogart
Elise - Sarah Berry/Erin Dilly/Sutton Foster

I remember reading a revue that "Somewhere in Time" is the men's chick flick, the one type of romantic movie men are drawn to. I tend to agree. I loved the movie alot.

Loved the movie. Loved the documentary about the making of on the DVD (with such a small budget, the passion behind getting it done by all involved)..

If I had to "nominate" anyone - I'd put my vote in for David Friedman to write the music and lyrics. With songs like "We Live On Borrowed Time" and "Listen to My Heart" - I definitely feel his style would fit that tone incredibly well.

This would be amazing!! I love the movie soooo much!

My parent's honeymooned on Mackinak Island at the Grand Hotel because of that film, so there is a big family thing for that movie :)

I think it should be a Guettel project!! That was the first person who came to mind.

and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

I actually agree with Stephanie that someone like Guettel would be an interesting choice to compose this.

I love the film - it IS very similar in a lot of ways to the Jack Finney novel TIME AND AGAIN, which didn't work very well as a musical a few yeas ago at MTC - but S.I.T. is a bit more lush and romantic, and music was very instrumental to the feel of the original film, so perhaps this would be more appropriate.

Yeah, I just hear the kind of classical sound that Guettel does working real well the whole air that surrounds this story...

ahh, this would be beautiful....so happy!!
