The iPod Question Thread

I always see people post iPod questions, so maybe we can have a thread for them.

My question: My iPod sometimes randomly pauses. One time I dropped it, and the headphones disconnected from the iPod, and I picked it up and it was paused. I can understand maybe if it falls or if there's some tug on the wire, it may pause. But I was just listening to something. I didn't do anything. Barely moving my head. The iPod is just sitting there, and it randomly pauses. Does this ever happen to anyone?

Ipods automatically pause themselves when the headphones are removed or disconnect...I've always found it a nifty feature.

Does anyone know why my mini sometimes skips songs entirely and keeps skipping them until I take them off my iPod and then put them back on?

Thanks for the suggestion, courtnyj, but I did indeed try that. When I connect my iPod to my computer via the USB cable, my computer doesn't even realize, so to speak, that it's been plugged in, nor does the iPod screen light up. I've tried it on another computer, too. I'm pretty sure the iPod is officially dead.

Nope, the Minis should have that feature as well. Perhaps that feature was only incorporated into the newer Minis, though, I don't know.

if you've dropped your ipod (NOT the nano or shuffle versions), you probably have damaged the hard drive inside.
