I meant I was trying to engender a discussion about the nature of message boards, which was in response to the controversy over what constitutes appropriate posting. I won't claim the blog post is anything but humor for humor sake. My question was whether entertainment (i.e. humor) can be a valuable contribution to a forum in and of itself. I think it can. I'm actually curious about the function of a message board community. My understanding was that it was to disseminate ideas and exchange information. Why should this exclude creative forms of expression? While I guess there's a fuzzy line between "advertising" and sharing, my feeling is if the material is relevant (i.e. theater-related), and contains ideas that might interest others, why shouldn't it be posted? Well it seems I've compromised the journalistic integrity of this open public forum. I suppose I assumed incorrectly that an online community that chats about theater would appreciate some theater-related humor! Maybe I should take a cue from TheatreDiva90016, get a new anonymous username, and say obnoxious things with impunity.
