actually, i'm not. sorry. play again. and i don't think this play's problem is that gay men don't get it. see: Isherwood et elia. what i am is someone who thinks theatre is actually kind of important, and it saddens me to see the bar lowered in this way.

I need to write because I feel I've been living in an alternate reality reading reviews of this play, which I thought was one of the most jejune, sophomoric, and lazy efforts I've seen on Broadway in quite a while. While the premise is intriguing, it seemed to me (and from the few friends who have also sat through it, to at least some others) that Ms. Ruhl got enchanted with an idea, wrote a couple of scenes, and forgot to write a play. it seems to me that Scarlett's charms -- such as they are -- are more suited to understatement and thus better served by film. will be interesting to see her try to create a character who can't deadpan or sotto-voce her way through a script.
