THIS I'm excited for. Not sure why. But I am.

Because it's a brilliant play. With 2 great actors.

Starting previews after Christmas and opening in late January? That's really risky. I hope they do well. I'll definitely be in line to see this one.
Not such a big fan of Johansson, yankee. Or Schreiber for that matter. But I have faith in them. I heard he was wonderful in TALK RADIO.
FINALLY there's something coming this ridiculously boring season I can get excited about.
Definitely excited for this.
Awesome! There's a lot of my favorite stars on Broadway this season, I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to see them perform live on stage.
I find Johansson to be god awful, aloof and uninvolved in almost every film she's done(MINUS Vicky Christina and Match Point) but Liev as Eddie makes me giddy with joy.
I can't wait and am hoping ScarJo proves me wrong and turns in a great performance. I do have to admit i can see her doing well with this role.
Scarlett used to turn in some really great performances, but has been making some really awful choices lately. She's been terrible in terribly written roles. A hit Broadway show is exactly what she needs right now to hopefully get her career back on track and then she can start picking some more interesting roles to play.
I think Johansson has the potential to be great, I mean, she's no Katie Holmes. Her acting style is so understated though that I wonder how it will register on stage. Either way, with a leading actor like Schreiber to share the stage with her, I trust that she'll do well. I'm quite excited for this as well.
Very interesting. Great play. I like Schreiber, but he doesn't seem to fit the part in my head.......Then again, I haven't read it in a while.
Intriguing all the same!
are there any rumors for Bea? or any other characters for that matter?

I always love hearing what people think when it comes to casting. Personally, I find Liev Shreiber irresistably sexy. Not to mention he's a brilliant actor. I think he's perfect for the role, and I am SO excited to see this. I do however feel that he is maybe a bit too sexy for the part, but I understand not everyone sees him as the sex symbol I do.
As for Scarlett Johanssen, I've never really cared for her but I've never really hated her either. I can take her or leave her. I think she's a bit too old for the part, but I'm curious to see what she does with it.
Yay.

I'm not a fan of Johansson but I haven't seen the play and I liked Liev in TALK RADIO, so it's a go.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Liev knock this one out of the ballpark. It's a great role calling for a great actor -- I was lucky enough to see both Tony LoBianco and Anthony LaPaglia and they both were sensational. IMO, it was a real gyp when Liev didn't get the Tony for Talk Radio (sorry, Frank L., that's the way I feel) and a Best Actor Tony may be in the tealeaves for this one.
Who's going to be Rodolpho, I wonder -- he's the catalyst that sets the whole crisis off. Has anyone here heard of Scarlett Johanssen?

Elizabeth Marvel, please be Bea.
Has anyone here heard of Scarlett Johanssen?
Nope, never heard of her.
I have seen a lot of Scarlett Johansson's work though and she seems to be a pretty big star.

Johannson's a big draw (God did I have a huge crush on her a couple years back) and Schreiber less so, but are they really going to sell tickets to this? CERTAINLY not on the level of Jackman and Craig.
But not everyone has to sell tickets the way that Jackman and Craig do. I mean, Johansson is likely to be a draw, but hopefully the draw will be the play, the production, and the talent involved (in terms of real talent v. box office draw). I mean, AUGUST: OC was a hit without any "names" involved. I hope this is the kind of production that stands on its own.
"I find Johansson to be god awful, aloof and uninvolved in almost every film she's done(MINUS Vicky Christina and Match Point) but Liev as Eddie makes me giddy with joy. "
Funny, I find her to be god awful in Match Point (during the second half, at least, when she starts shrieking -- she's pretty good as the smoldering babe in the first half), and aloof and uninvolved in Vicky Cristina.
it seems to me that Scarlett's charms -- such as they are -- are more suited to understatement and thus better served by film. will be interesting to see her try to create a character who can't deadpan or sotto-voce her way through a script.
Shrug.
Elizabeth Marvel would be a PERFECT choice for Beatrice. And with the double whammy of Schreiber and Johansson, it really wouldn't matter that she's not particularly a name.
