Hamilton film awards - Will it happen? Should it?  Jul 5 2020, 03:12:00 PM

With respect to the Oscars, the Hamilton film is not eligible. To be eligible, a film must be shown to paying audiences in a theater for two weeks in both L.A. and NYC. (I am be off a bit on the details, but it is definitely required to have an audience-paying theater run for some sort.) Of course, the Academy could change the rules, even if temporarily. And Hamilton could satisfy those requirements later; but I've not heard of any plans for this to be in theaters. Some movies on streamin

SO I'm blacklisted  Jan 2 2020, 01:10:42 AM

To the original poster: So you joined this site on 12/21/19 just to post this rant. Frankly, I can't figure out what the hell you are talking about. Move on.

SpongeBob the Musical: Viewing Thread  Dec 8 2019, 03:04:47 PM

I forgot to DVR this last night. But it's repeated several times, including at 2pm ET Sunday, which I am right now in the process of DVR'ing.

However, I see that this re-broadcast is two hours in length, The initial Saturday broadcast was 2.5 hours (per zap2it.com). Does anyone know if this means that additional cuts were made for the re-broadcasts? Or did the original broadcast on Saturday just contain a lot of filler at the end? Or perhaps the re-broadcasts have fewer commerc

verbal abuse  Jan 11 2019, 01:52:01 PM

Based on these short details, I can neither agree nor disagree that there was "verbal abuse". There is not enough information here to say either way.

1984 Running Time  Jun 8 2017, 01:39:45 PM

It's on the Hudson Theatre website.

What Broadway  Aug 2 2016, 07:33:33 AM

To the original poster: What is your answer to your own question? I might be inclined to give you my answer if you actually started this with your own opinion!

Waking A Stranger Up At The Theater?  Jul 23 2016, 11:00:46 PM

I have had people sitting next to me fall asleep several times. If they are quiet, I could care less. It is their money being wasted, not mine. But if they snore, then I poke. Whether they like that or not, I really don't care.

Grease Live! Official Thread  Feb 1 2016, 12:23:37 AM

I finished watching this about 15 minutes ago. (I started watching it off my DVR while it was in process ... I detest commercials!)

Well done indeed! NBC should take lessons from Fox on these live musicals!

Note to Mario: The line shoukd have been "National Bandstand", not "American Bandstand".

Lion king and Aladdin. The same show?  Jan 9 2016, 08:45:21 AM

No, not the same.

Is Toby played by a live rat?  Dec 24 2015, 10:47:41 AM

What part of "And yet Alex Sharp won the Tony, I'm sure the rat does more, just to stay alive" stated or even suggested that the rat had anything to do with Alex winning the Tony?

Audience member arrested at intermission, last night , at Gin Game~~  Dec 19 2015, 11:49:21 AM

Based on the description of the event, it doesn't sound like something for which one would be arrested. Being escorted out, yes. If the policeperson said this, then so be it, but that doesn't mean it would actually happen; perhaps it was said to appease the "victim" and/or to make escorting out go more smoothly.

Likelihood of INVISIBLE THREAD Transferring?  Nov 28 2015, 10:33:50 AM

Anything can transfer. But the likelihood of being commercially viable if it does: zero.

SOUTHERN COMFORT at The Public  Nov 5 2015, 12:54:25 PM

I also saw this at the Barrington Stage two years ago. I recall enjoying it there.

Time Musical  Nov 4 2015, 12:45:59 PM

I saw this in London. A semi-spectacle .... perhaps.

Razzle Dazzle- Michael Riedel's book  Oct 9 2015, 12:04:58 PM

I have no intention of buying this book and supplementing Riedel's income. When I get more time, I'll get it from the library and read it for free --- maybe.

NYMF 2015  Jul 21 2015, 10:00:07 AM

I saw "HeadVoice" two days ago. It was simple, cute really. I found it entertaining.

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World  Jul 13 2015, 12:26:28 PM

What does this have to do with Broadway? Or even theatre in general?
