Broadway Returns - Your 2021-2022 Season Recaps Apr 30
2022, 02:41:04 PM
I've been so so grateful for the return of theater/Broadway. Shoutout to all the amazing teams, both behind the curtain and in front of it, who got us to this point. In this season (including returning shows) I saw:
Hadestown: I was at the first show back, and it felt the closest to a religious experience I've ever had. I wept the entire time, from the sheer joy of being back.
Six (twice): So much fun! I had seen it on the West End right before the pandemic,

POTUS: OR, BEHIND EVERY GREAT DUMBASS ARE SEVEN WOMEN TRYING TO KEEP HIM ALIVE Previews Apr 15
2022, 04:13:16 PM
Saw this last night and had a blast! It was so funny, felt refreshing to see a true farce-style comedy. The set is really cool with the turntable setup to show all the different rooms. I was wondering if people know what songs are used in the mega-mix? I caught Eye of the Tiger, Roar, Breakin' Dishes, and I Hate Myself for Loving You. Overall just a really fun night, with a super talented cast (and crocs!)

The topic of audience members in the front rows is interesting. At Slave Play, my friend reported that the entire front row had kn95 masks taped to the seats, with a note requesting they be worn.

Stage managers normally have substitutes who can cover for them, although it depends on where in the timeline of the production a show is. They're often not trained until after opening, although it depends on the show.

THOUGHTS OF A COLORED MAN Previews Oct 4
2021, 05:53:02 PM
I saw the show Saturday night and thought it was great. It was emotional, funny, and left me thinking, which is something I love from a good play. The set design is mostly lights and projections, with very few physical set pieces. The cast was all great, and like others have said, getting to hear Luke James sing is an absolute delight. I really wish this show well, and I hope that they can keep spreading the word and that the reviews help them. It is a piece that addresses important issues in

Certainly agree with everyone commenting on the pricing. I normally go in the morning and then go back around 4:30-5 for the sales, and this year they seemed to be doing far less of that. Stuff seemed priced higher from last year, which was disappointing. I wish that the curtain call table had been given more space, since it was always mobbed. Despite that, I still had a good year and got some exciting finds!

1) Hadestown: A
I am biased because I love the show, but I thought they did a great job. I liked that they did one full song, and got to show off some of the incredible staging. I do wish they did some of the parts of Wait for Me 2, just to showcase the other cast members.
2) Beetlejuice: A
This performance did the best job on selling me on wanting to see a show. This performance was fun, quirky, upbeat, and really sold me on the show. I liked that they
