A FAN'S OPEN LETTER TO DEBBIE
 Feb 18 2005, 02:22:38 PM
Yeah, I actually feel a sense of hostility towards this fool. I can't put my finger on it, but who the hell does he think he is? He's an opinionated idiot who feels that his view must be known for the betterment of society.
re: Why do musicians in long running shows continue to read their score?
 Feb 18 2005, 02:17:46 PM
I've always thought of it as a security blanket.

Often in the big road shows 90% of the musicians are hired from a group of local union musicians to play for only the engagement in that city. So it's always new to them.

Well emcee... when I saw the show about the witches, Mr. Butz was often about a half-pitch flat in his very few opportunties to sing, and he dragged through the show as if on drugs. A talented performer I did not see. Though I will always reserve judgement for a better role to come along.

NoLe Butz was pretty bad in 'Wicked'.
who? like an owl

Oh Robbie, you know I wish I could do that. Now, with a mattress pushed into the corner, and a shot of morphine... perhaps.

I didn't say it must be one of those reasons, but it could be. If you can without a doubt argue that it couldn't possibly be either of my hypotheses, then I will accecpt your mockery. Otherwise, you're just taunting me for the sake of it.

All of this talk of hoohas has gotten me flushed. I have to go to the water cooler.

I'm going out on a limb here.

I think that Denis O'Hare should have gotten more flak than he did for his performance of Take Me Out right in the middle of Assassins.

I think Michael Crawford's Phantom was something to see. Since then, has hasn't had the material to sustain his "rating". Bad choices.

I am not at all impressed with Hunter Foster. The performance I didn't see is Urinetown. That may have been the one.

You will never see a piece of scenery from one Broadway show reused in another Broadway show.

I'm not entirely sure about that... Many of the tables and chairs from the 'Dance of the Vampires' tavern were regifted to 'Fiddler'. I'm not sure you can count chairs as scenery, but they are certainly set pieces.

Oh I'm not wrong. She's a monster. Depending on her current blood sugar, she could play young Cosette in the tour of Les Mis. Her 'Castle on a Cloud' would bring tears to your eyes.

Listen... Stritch can do anything.

If you need someone to play 30-40, she can do it.
Hell, I'd cast her as Shelley in 'Bat Boy'. She's a machine.
