re: Michael Riedel's Views on the Tony Awards
 Jun 16 2008, 11:58:53 AM
Trying to figure out how a "hopelessly old-fashioned show" has so many posters saying things like "I don't want to see a hiphop musical" or "I don't like rap in a show."

Methinks Reidel is just upset because he felt the need to print wrongly so many times that the tides were turning and that PS was going to win...and well, he was wrong on both counts.

By calling the ITH win an "upset," he's trying to do a little revisionist history. As we all know, most of the pundits (with ver

South Pacific was a bit of a snoozefest. not really moved to see it. I mean lovely singing of a lovely score, but that presentation didn't comvince me it was as much a "must-see" as some say.

well put eve...

but look out, al dente, bree daniel and all the other bway.com folks are going to be accusing you of censorship and stifling their rights to an opinion in about ten minutes.

decency and tact are two things missing from most of civilized society today and the offending posters are the greatest examples of that.

Ahhh Al Dente, not everyone can be Orfeh, I guess...then again, I like for someone to be able to act when they're singing.

All a matter of personal opinion I guess...but tact never was your strong point was it?

I've never told anyone they can't have an opinion, merely hoping that certain posters would be adults and contribute to a discussion in a positive manner as opposed to rudely and uneducatedly bashing someone. That hope was gone as soon as I discovered your need to come a

I think it's terrible that you would title your thread so unbelievably tactlessly. Grow up. I'm fairly certain Daphne visits this site and to see this thread up is hurtful, rude and childish. Express your opinion if you like, but REALLY! a little bit of educated opinion and tact if you don't mind.

Although there are some very valid points against the show here, I have to say I did enjoy it. The major flaw is indeed that Rob is not a terribly sympathetic character, but because of Will's charm, you do end up pulling for him and hoping he stops falling all over himself, and hope he eventually will do the right thing.

It's a very different musical and expects a little something from their audience...a tredn I wish more musicals could successfully pull off nowadays.

Overall,
