Your Theatre Year In Review 2018
 Dec 22 2018, 01:10:14 PM

How many shows have you seen this year?: 10 on Broadway, 20 US tours / regional shows.

Show you liked/loved the most?: Once on this Island still haunts me. I just cannot shake it. I had to see it multiple times while I was in New York. I just remember "Rain" from Once on this Island and get chills. If I lived close to New York, I'd see it as much as I possibly could before it closed. The last time I was so in love with a musical was when I saw

Which Show Do You Remember Least?
 Dec 1 2018, 06:59:39 PM

I was 13 when I saw Andrew Lloyd Webber's Bombay Dreams on Broadway and I honestly can't remember the plot of that show. I remember the song "Shakalaka Baby" and still get it stuck in my head, along with "How Many Stars", and, I do recall some other tunes because they were rip-offs of real Bollywood songs. My best friend growing up was Indian, so, I watched a lot of Bollywood. So, I still recall a lot of the music because it was sampled from real Bollywood songs, b

Is Light in the Piazza problematic?
 Nov 29 2018, 09:12:34 PM

Being disabled mentally / having development issues (resulting from brain trauma, in this case) is a wide spectrum. Meaning, no two people are 100% alike with their disabilities, when it comes to disabilities such as this. For example, I was born with quite a bit of white brain matter (that means blank spots in the brain) at birth, due to being 2.5 months premature. The doctors told my mother that I would most likely grow up to be extremely slow, with a low IQ, and they tried to kindly tell h

I agree, My Fair Lady and The Ferryman are not to be missed.

What is the best Stage Performance You Have Ever Seen?
 Nov 9 2018, 03:40:34 PM

1) I saw Ephie Aardema (she was the understudy Jerusha) in Daddy Long Legs off-Broadway and she was absolutely magical in the role. I saw it again with Megan McGinnis, the principal, and it didn't feel the same. I still adore Megan, though.

2) Lianah Sta. Ana as Kim in the new Miss Saigon revival. She played the character so well emotionally. Her voice also reminded me a lot of Lea Salonga's, but, she still held her own. She was fierce and very much in character.

Oh Wouldn't it be loverly if you all helped me out?

New York does use Air BNB but I researched like crazy before booking a host and I had an excellent experience. I booked a penthouse suite in a townhouse. The first floor is where the original owners lived, the second floor was rented out as well, and the top floor (penthouse suite) was all to myself. No crazy rules or anything. Housekeeping would come and give me new linens and toilet paper every now and then. I had a kitchen, laundry room, living room, bedroom, tea kettle, bathroom, etc. all

I would check a site called BroadwayBox and type in the name of the show and any discounts will pop up. TodayTix simply uses those same discount codes to get you tickets, but they have a service charge tacked onto it.

I'd buy beforehand simply because rush is so very hit or miss.

You're only going to be there for three days and you have to line up fairly early for most shows to get rush, and even then, they may stop selling rush to the last 10-20

Musicals that should no longer be performed (or at least updated)
 Nov 5 2018, 09:58:21 PM

To answer your question:

1) Chicago. It could be incredible if it was redone. They should take away that giant on-stage orchestra band that takes up 70% of stage space and have real scene changes, costume changes, and elaborate sets and props. It's very monochromatic and dated as it is now.

2) The Phantom of the Opera. Yes, it's a classic, but it suffers from several flaws. The Broadway version feels dated and has basically been the same since it opened. I&

Frozen or Anastasia!?
 Oct 31 2018, 01:54:08 AM

I also forgot to add that Once on this Island is very much heavily based off of the original "The Little Mermaid" story! There are no mermaids, but, the story is similar. Keep in mind that I said the original story... not the Disney version.

So, Once on this Island is definitely something I think you'd love. It has a VERY strong animated movie vibe, even though it's not. Really wish someone would animate it and turn it into a movie, though!

Frozen or Anastasia!?
 Oct 30 2018, 08:25:54 PM

Hello! Long time lurker here. I actually made an account just to answer this question.

I loved the Anastasia movie. I've been going to Broadway shows ever since I was a little kid (around age 5-6 is when I started) and the movie was out by then. The Broadway version came out after I had hoped for it to come to Broadway for nearly twenty years.

Did it live up to my nearly 20 years of waiting and hoping for? Nah.

I had no issue with the
