I don’t understand the hype. Maybe your words can fully explain what I may be missing."
It appears that the comment above was edited from the thread-starter's original post (which I missed).
On Feb. 1, the same day this discussion started, a review was posted on BWW about living up to the the Hamilton Hype by a Columbus, Ohio critic. The final show in Columbus is tonight but I thought the critic had some good points:

In my very humble opinion, the Puerto Rico fundraiser is a good example

Would you recommend this show to a foreign tourist?
I'm very curious about it but it's a lot of money!
I'm new here but I've seen Hamilton 3 times after reading Chernow's book twice (once via books on tape) and reading Hamilton, The Revolution by Jeremy McCarter and LMM several times and Hamilton by Richard Sylla and many other light-reading books

It will most likely be the final time to see LMM in his iconic role as Hamilton.
Life is short.
To avoid having regrets, GO FOR IT!
It might be a good idea to call first in case the person updating the web site just forgot to post the SOLD OUT! notation for tonight's VIP Show and after-show celebration.

Hi Amy,
It appears you are new like me. I'm not sure how technical things work on this message board but I know that if you correct the date in your title you might get some replies--- it says "Jan. 3" not "Jan. 30"
If you can't change it so it's visible on the Forum List---I changed it on my post but it does not transfer to the list---you might click on the "Report to Mods" button below and maybe they can help you in time.
If you messaged with a member and already sold your tickets, never mind.
Best wishes to you.

The Saturday night show does not have the VIP option but it appears that the final show ---7:30 PM on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 --- still has VIP tickets available:

It will most likely be the final time to see LMM in his iconic role as Hamilton. For us it was a great experience---an opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause while creating life-long memories. Even though we had to mortgage our house to afford it, it was well worth it.

Hamilton in Puerto Rico on Friday, January 18, 2019
[evening show 7:30 pm] and post-show reception

$5,000.00

Seems like the Jan. 18, Friday night VIP tickets did not sell out. (Or someone forgot to update the web site as the other VIP shows are marked "SOLD OUT".)
https://hamiltonmusical.com/puerto-rico/tickets
It appears that 4 of the 10 VIP shows have tickets still available but 5 sold out. My guess is that's how a congressional entourage got tickets for one or more of the sold out shows..... or not......

As of early morning, Wed. Jan. 16, tickets apparently still remain for the VIP seats, tonight, Jan. 16, tomorrow, Thurs. Jan. 17 and Friday, Jan. 18.
Also, The Tonight Show was filmed in PR Tuesday featuring an interview with LMM and others. Anyone see it?

As of today, it appears that all 4 tour packages are sold out but 6 of the 9 VIP shows (including tickets and post-show receptions) are still available.

Also today is the Opening Night for Hamilton Puerto Rico on the 262nd anniversary of Hamilton's birth. Of course some still debate whether or not Hamilton was born in 1755 or 1757 but it does not diminish his significance.

Were you in the line of purchasers in San Juan who received greetings from the Miranda family (via Skype) while waiting to buy tickets on Nov. 10?
There is a new PRIZEO contest for the final performance in PR on Jan. 27, 2019.....50 winners will get 2 tickets each, RT Air fare and hotel for 2 nights plus show tickets.

You're probably right about the theatre sizes being similar.
I was referring to the possible increase in the size of the reception room after the 9 scheduled VIP shows---of which 6 were labeled "sold out" before the venue change. Now only 1 is "sold out."
I hope the reception room size increased to accommodate more VIP guests at the new venue. The more people choosing to contribute $5K for a VIP seat, the more funds will be raised for the Puerto Rico Arts Programs.

I just looked at the campus map and it appears that this could be a definite concern, especially for first-time visitors after a late night 'sold-out' show. I'm going to check with our hotel to see what kind of shuttle service might be available. Thanks for posting this.
Gypsy101 said: "hasn’t the show made some obscene profits so far that probably offset any loss they may face from the discounts?"
I saw that LMM pledged to take Hamilton to PR (and play the lead role) even before Hurricane Maria hit. (I know it's pronounced differently but I thought the hurricane name was quite coincidental.)
One thing I like about the 'obscene profits' the show has made is that LMM/entourage are committed to educating and inspiring students and adults alike to learn about our nation's history. The Hamilton Interactive Exhibition opens in Chicago in April of 2019 and eventually will travel from city to city.
