I really wanted one of those Lincoln Center imax seats but I think everything went on sale a few minutes early! I opened my browser at like 8:26 and 80% of the Wednesday 6:30 showing had already been sold.

Musical Adaptation of EMPIRE RECORDS - News & Discussion Thread Oct 6

How is this comparing to all the other rock-and-roll-subculture-age-ish musicals that have flopped lately? I have not seen the show but unintentionally and very indiscriminately have sort of compartmentalized this in my mind with the likes of Almost Famous, Rock and Roll Man, Heart of Rock and Roll, A Sign of the Times, Rock of Ages (many of which are all different shows dgmw) … and I just can’t help but think that whatever this bubble of wannabe rock and

Playbill Ceases Operations for Touring Productions Sep 20
2024, 04:30:08 PM
My personal opinion is that Playbuilder comes off visually as very amateurish (the graphic/layout formatting is completely different than what you’d see in an actual Playbill) and I don’t see a world in which professional companies move towards it unless they made it look more sleek.

Non-Equity Dear Evan Hansen Tour Sep 10

Production photos are gorgeous IMO. The design obviously lends itself to functioning and presenting similarly even with a scaled-down set and smaller tour. Good for them.

HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL to return to New York in 2025 Sep 1

Given the original London iterations of the show were only ever supposed to be an off-West End engagement too, I could see it making the jump to Broadway if and only if the show actually lands well with audiences and it isn’t completely review-shunned for being too “inappropriate” for America.
They must just be playing this by ear and feeling it out, and I concur with other posters it will probably be a very limited fan engagement to start,

Does anyone happen know which GM office/team was attached to the ill-fated Broadway production back in the day? It was something that crossed my mind recently but couldn’t seem to find anything in any original press releases.

Wow thank you for this breakdown! But where do people look to see the operating costs of shows? It seems like everyone on here knows what those are for shows- is that widely available information??"
Broadway General Manager by Peter Bogyo is my go-to recommendation! Fantastic book.

To your last point, I will be sad if this does not get some kind of short film/movie adaptation. It’s the perfect piece for it and I hope film producers are being scouted/seeing the show.

Yeah I totally get it. And yes agreed about the key art! Don’t get me wrong I think the imagery is so so good and overall it’s super appealing artwork, but between that and the frontline synopsis e.g. “She wants to return to work, but Lloyd thinks that may be doing more harm than good”, I was really walking into this expecting a nuanced, grounded, and probably somewhat comedic commentary on work-life balance and that was the furthest thing from what the show actua

That part was just too far outside the realm of possibility for me.
I also hope the writer has a therapist of his own; you’d hope so with knowing details and processes like those that are encased in the female character’s joband then wanting to put those details onstage."
Yeah I agree with PipingHotPiccolo — I don’t think it’s at all unrealistic/immersion breaking to believe that in a large corporate office that a few people may have filmed something like this. Probably not for entertainments sake, but if I were in that situation sitting across the room in a cubicle and felt my safety could be at risk, yeah I just might take out my phone to record it. On a similar note, I don’t think people would exactly be running around posting their original footage all over LinkedIn or Twitter ala “wowww my coworker is the craziest!” but rather probably sent it to 1-2 immediate friends that sent it to another 1-2 friends and eventually found its way to TMZ.
I loved how one of the biggest ideas the show touched on was how easy it is to dox people. It’s not unrealistic to think someone taped it and leaked it, even if with a non-malicious intention, and the company was able to check the footage to see who would’ve captured it and was responsible.
Not saying that’s how it WOULD have played out but … could have played out. It felt a very reasonable and realistic bit of context to me at least.
