Next week advice  Dec 14 2023, 10:51:22 PM

You can check the TKTS live availability on the website - if you check it on Tuesday & you can buy next day matinee tickets that day there. The Lincoln Center location is the way to go if you have time to walk up there. This includes the Rockettes as well.

This is peak season so locking in your tickets might provide more peace of mind, but it’s a good point of comparison  https://www.tdf.org/discount-ticket-programs/tkts-by-tdf/

Seating for Days of Wine & Roses ?  Jun 14 2023, 01:47:02 PM

Definitely last row, intimate theater and the only place I wouldn’t want to be is first few rows, might be a bit close/looking up  - unless you don’t mind that and really want them to sing in yuo

Very tall people sitting in front of you  Jun 10 2023, 06:47:50 PM

Other ideas:

Try to book an aisle seat so you can at least always lean to that side unobstructed.

Look at seating charts for any staggered seats or rows with an aisle in front.

Go to the theater with a taller companion when you can so they can more comfortably take the seat with the taller person in front! Growing up if a taller person came in the row, we made my dad take the seat behind them, and inevitably people behind us would start to do the same.

Health dining near the theater district  May 18 2023, 08:25:54 PM

Also there’s a bunch of good smoothie options - I like the Green Machine from an independent shop just west of the theater district called Fresh from Hell on 47th st between 8th and 9th avenues. http://www.freshfromhell.com/#home

There’s also Juice Generation & Juice Press that are reliable chains.

Wishing you good health & enjoy your trip!

There are some good options in/near Bryant Park - there’s a Sweetgreen or Chopt salad bars, a Le Pain Quotidien and a Whole Foods that has a salad bar and seating on the 2nd floor. Bryant Park Grill or Juniors should also be able to make a salad to your specifications.

Can't decide between...  Feb 5 2023, 08:58:34 PM

Parade has an excellent cast & beautiful score but it is heavy topically. It is memorable and important so that would be my pick!

What to do on a Thursday afternoon in New York?  Jul 11 2022, 09:31:23 AM

Ditto checking out the Drama bookshop.

You might also like the Performing Arts Library https://www.nypl.org/locations/lpa adjacent to Lincoln Center, the plaza there is also all decked out for the summer. Pick up lunch nearby somewhere casual (I suggest Breads bakery) and eat lunch at one of the tables in Lincoln Center plaza, or in Central Park nearby.

The main branch of the library at 42nd st also has great (free) tours.

You could also check out the Civilian hotel which seems to be featuring Broadway memorabilia, though I have not been, per the local ethos to stay out of the neighborhood when not explicitly necessary! https://www.civilianhotel.com/about-us/4cs/culture

NYC Summer Recommendations  Jun 27 2022, 10:22:36 PM

Go to Shakespeare in the Park. Get drinks on the rooftop of the Met museum. Look up what’s going on at Lincoln Center’s outdoor Summer for the City events to see if anything is of interest. Enjoy your visit! https://www.lincolncenter.org/series/summer-for-the-city

Theaters Comfortable for  Jun 13 2022, 12:27:35 AM

Circle in the Square & the Beaumont I think fit best overall, because of their curves they have more, smaller sections hence more aisle seats & spacing but I’d bet you could find a solution in any theater. If you start with the seating chart you can look for aisle seats that jut out wider than the row prior.

Some general other tips that might improve your/his experience:

If possible, go on a weekday - less crowded.

Get to the theater early

Restaurant recommendation near City Center??  May 6 2022, 01:02:02 PM

Our go-to favorite in the area is Trattoria dell’arte. If you want to eat outside, try La grande boucherie.

Kristen and Bobby Lopez NY Pops  Apr 26 2022, 09:37:04 AM

I was there - pure joy in the room! If you check the performers IG stories you can see more pics & snippets of video. I hope they recorded it so people can see more…

Josh Gad did double duty singing from Mormon & as Olaf from Frozen.

They did an orchestra-only version of Do you want to build a snowman with students that was charming.

I thought everything sounded richer backed by such a full orchestra, minor mic issues aside.

Outdoor dining options in January?  Jan 15 2022, 09:43:37 PM

By CSC we like Ippudo for indoor eating if you can get there early or they also do well packaged take out!

Must see Broadway stars  Dec 11 2021, 12:13:41 AM

All good picks -

Feel like the Drama Desk distinguished performance award winners are a good place to start if you wanted to direct a student to a starting point…

https://dramaleague.org/awards-history/

+ Andre De Shields, Cynthia Erivo, + ones you won’t likely see like Streisand or Julie Andrews…

Glad it worked out & thank you for not going to the theater sick! Hope you feel better soon.
Assassins Ticket Exchange?  Nov 2 2021, 04:50:03 PM
CSC safety policy per their website is to email the box office & they should be able to rebook you for a later date. https://www.classicstage.org/boxofficepolicies
Lehman Runtime  Oct 15 2021, 08:27:27 PM
Run time was 3hrs 20mins last week in previews so def. feasible
Uplifting  Oct 15 2021, 02:40:13 PM
Tops for Joy: Six, Freestyle Love Supreme, Little Shop of Horrors

Waitress is def worth seeing if you haven’t seen yet too.

Flying over Sunset at Lincoln Center is an unknown quantity but it’s a new musical that might interest you too

Assassins help  Oct 11 2021, 05:10:00 PM
Nov 14th is listed as their opening night.

Nov 13th…you never know, can keep checking the site/email the box office to see if they keep a wait list. I usually like to believe nothing’s unavailable until the curtain rises but this is a tiny space so decreases the odds. Unless someone on here has more intel on if seats are being blocked during the run that could potentially be released later.
