SMASH Previews

SMASH probably survives just on it's fan base through Labor Day alone.

But is it made for the fans?

If you loved the TV series, it's exactly what you want. And if you didn't, we changed everything."

Mamma Mia played for 14 years on broadway without a star as Donna. So, no the show doesn’t “definitely need a star.”

Sure Jan! Whatever you say

Well, this put the 'bidding war' rumor to rest. The film still has no distributor, period. IMO Jennifer Lopez is the hard sell part, even if she's fantastic in the film or not. She's been a massive flop for the past few years so I wouldn't rule out distributors have some doubts about her 'power'

THE LOST BOYS to open at the Palace on Broadway in 2026

Let me get this straight... they're opening another vampire production at the Palace theater exacty 20 years after 'Lestat'? Not a good omen at all

BOOP, BOOP, FIZZ

I wouldn't consider presales a defining factor since ticket buyers' habit has changed after the pandemic. Many shows have not had great presales but are doing great during the run. Unless of course the show has a big name attached or excellent built-up WOM.

Having said that, it's way to soon to predict how it'll do but it seems to me BOOP tried to take advantage of the whole 'Barbie' movement success back in 2023 but it's 2025 now, does an

Great week for Death becomes her! But MHE is still struggling, I see a closing announcement soon, it won't survive the winter.

Ps: bye Tammy!

ACL2006 said: "I saw the matinee today. I'm a big fan of James T. Lane and he was outstanding in the role. Overall, the show gets off to a slow start, but by middle of Act 1 it settles in. Act 2 is very solid with a solid opener, the big tap numbers, "Smiling", and the finale featuring the title number. This might slowly find an audience if A Beautiful Noise could as well. I'd assume it's also cheaper to run than A Beautiful Noise as it has a smaller cast and or

Yikes Tammy! Those numbers are even worse than last week, I can't believe it's playing at 38% capacity, the palace must be a ghosttown. It must be so hard for the entire cast, it should have closed before Thanksgiving.

So happy for Death becomes her! Swept away and A wonderful world are definitely in trouble and might close by January, terrible numbers. MHE seems to have increased but I'm not sure it's str

It's really impressive because she has all the famous Meryl/Miranda lines but she changes up the delivery of them up juuuuust enough so that they're completely her own. It's truly impressive for her to be able to take aniconic role like that and not make you think of Meryl."

Yikes? To that? While this has certainly discussed to death in another thread and didn't need a thread of its own, Tammy Faye's closure has been announced, and it is closing in 16 days. It hardly seems like speculating about what is next for a theatre that will be av

Review: Death Becomes Her Is Broadway Musical Comedy Heaven

As it goes with all great satire, Death Becomes Her is hilarious because its fantastical story echoes developments in the real world — the underhanded competition among an overpopulated class of elites and the emergence of transhumanism as a serious idea pursued by some of the richest, most powerful people on earth. It all hits much closer to home in 2024 than it did in 1992, which makes this the perfect time for Death Becomes Her to arrive on Broadway.
