re: Fantine From Les Mis Jul 18

The director must have some faith in your ability, as Fantine plays a vital (though short-lived) role in the production. If the audience doesn't understand her sacrifice and desperation they miss a key element to the overall plot. "I Dreamed a Dream" is one of the most passion filled songs one could ever sing. Break a leg!

This was my first time seeing Wicked. Having lived in Kansas the majority of my life I am more than familiar with the "Sequel." (My avatar is of my husband and I taken while biking across Kansas.) Last year I took my daughter to NYC for her b-day but Wicked was sold out--We saw Sarah Jones instead, and enjoyed her performance immensely. Thanks for the polite welcome and the much needed lesson. My apologies for posting to a link I thought was a preexisting thread--oops! As for my choice in shows, don't I get any credit for stating that I am a huge Les Mis fan? (My children can sing every song without the CD.) I really do appreciate good theatre. But then again silly me I thought this was about Ana and not me?

Ana Gasteyer as Elphi Jul 18

https://www.broadwayworld.com/l.cfm?id=79125 Ana was fantastic in Wicked!! I had no idea when we decided to go to Chicago for the show that she had one of the lead roles. At the theater, when I saw her name in the playbill and pointed it out to my family. We were all excited. Even our 12 year old son knew who she was (from old SNL reruns). As a huge Les Mis fan I must say that the musical element was not as strong as that show, but then again what is? Ana was a pleasant surprise. Her harmony with Glinda (with and without the "Ga") was great. The writing was hilarious, but her acting ability made the lovable character even more endearing. Kudos!!! We were all wondering what they did to make her green. Was it make-up all over, a body suit, or a combination? I'd love to hear how she felt about the green.
