Saw the matinee yesterday and both Jennifer and Megan were on. Michelle didn't, but don't think we missed anything except extra hooting and hollering. Her understudy was fabulous. We laughed non-stop during the first act. Second act was not as good, but still entertaining. The leads, dancers, and stunts were very impressive. Glad to have finally seen the show.

I actually randomly watched this at 5 am up with my newborn. I was pleasantly surprised it was a musical and only watched because of Zoey Zaldaña. Furthermore, I was really surprised at the premise, but let the story unfold. Lots of issues addressed in wave tops. However, I really enjoyed the songs and actresses. Not surprised they won at Cannes. Then, I looked for this thread and really surprised about the bad reviews. If you have Netflix, definitely recommend watching this. 

I was hoping they'd be the little show that could á la Shucked. Did they open too early? Maybe a Spring opening would've helped limp them to the Tony's. 

I won't be back to Broadway until April. Hoping and praying hard for Audra it stays open at least until then. Really hoping it lasts until the Tony's. I know many think it's in Nicole's bag (me too), surely Audra would be at least nominated and perform. 

I might be just a simple bitch, why am I always on the verge of crying during "New Ways to Dream?" Ugh 😭 Driving to hot yoga...

 

 

Saw this last night with a friend (very liberal) and my MIL (very conservative). We all laughed hysterically throughout the show. And hard agree with everyone that said the last 10-15 mins was the best ever. Worth the $150 tix for such a "small" play. 

Never saw the musical before, only the movie.

And, Nicole blew me and my friends away. Wow. Wow. Wow. Saw the 3rd preview yesterday and they are ready to open now. The main cast is also impressive. Only quibble I have is the lack of chemistry between Betty and Tom (specially compared to Nicole and Tom). But, that doesn't matter because it's all about Nicole. Her singing is beyond phenomenal and her is acting very nuanced, moving, funny, and tragic.

I don't know. Sometimes, he overacts IMO.

Btw, when I saw Merrily I had big expectations based on reviews and WOM...and it even surpassed that. Lindsay was the standout for me (and I LOVE Jonathon) in the overall stellar cast. 

I'm hoping Illinoise extends to at least Sep so I can go see it. Already super sad I'm going to miss HoRR.

Wow! That was awesome!! If it's still around in the Fall, I'd go see it. And I don't normally go to jukebox musicals. Tamika needs to go on The Tonight Show, too.
