Jawbreaker movie musical in the works

Jawbreaker writer/director Darren Stein recently was interviewed on the indie podcast Release Date Rewind to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his dark campy comedy. He mentioned that he's hard at work developing the Jawbreaker movie musical, based on his stage musical libretto. The film hasn't been greenlit by Sony yet, but the filmmaker wants pop stars in the cast like Kim Petras as Vern Mayo (now a trans character, instead of Fern), Mary J.
