re: First Broadway Show
 Dec 7 2006, 01:16:43 AM
Mine was actually "The Scarlet Pimpernel", and I think my 7 year-old self left the theatre going "...WTF?!?"
re: What show are you currently obsessed with?

Urinetown.

What I hear right now: "My dad, my dad, my dad, my dad, my dad, my dad, my dad, my dad, my dad, my dad, my dad..."

re: Little Moments on Cast Recordings That You Love

Probably a bit cliche, but the opening chords of Wicked tend to give me chills.

I am also quite partial to just about all of L5Y.

Also, and this might be odd, but in "Look at the Sky" in Urinetown, any of Hunter's powerful notes just make me deliriously happy.

Barrett is exquisite.
Such a loss to the straight community. Lucky gay men.

What does the general opinion on Aaron Lazar seem to be?

I cannot wait to see this...

Pineapple juice.
Not kidding.
My director in high school swore by it, and it always worked for me.

re: The Last 5 Years love
 Oct 17 2006, 06:25:48 PM
I bought the recording of L5Y about a year ago, and fell instantly in love. I copied the CD for 2 of my friends, and from that point on, it pretty much became our favorite above all.

The songs are enchanting and emotional and real and beautiful.
I am also a pretty big Jason Robert Brown fan in general. That man is a genius.

re: Most Emotionally Satisfying Showtunes?

Oh gosh so many. That's one of the many reasons I love theatre...it's emotionally satisfying!

Alas, here is my list:

Say it Somehow & The Light in the Piazza - LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA
Light of the World, By My Side, & On The Willows - GODSPELL
Basically all of THE LAST 5 YEARS, but especially Still Hurting, If I Didn't Believe in You, Nobody Needs to Know, & Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You.
A Heart Full of Love & The Finale - LES MIS
Solla Sollew - S

Aaron is 30? He graduated from my high school in 1994, so that would make him about 30.

I am so excited to watch it!
Aaron Lazar graduated from my high school in 1994 and the current theatre group took a trip to see him in November and I've been dying to see it again since. Obviously, this won't be as good as being in a theatre, but I am rather excited. :)

I feel like this question may have been asked and answered already, but how many lotto tickets do they offer on a Tuesday or Thursday night, and about how many people show up?
Thanks in advance!

re: broadway myspace music help
 Mar 26 2006, 07:33:30 PM
I don't know any codes, but if you go to the myspace music page and search for the title of the show, some sites should come up.

Hope that helped!

re: What song makes you want to get up and dance.
 Mar 26 2006, 07:22:16 PM
Ohh so many!

Dancing Through Life (WICKED)
Basically all of HAIRSPRAY!
Light of the World (GODSPELL)
Great Big Stuff (DRS)
Pandemonium (SPELLING BEE)
Out Tonight (RENT)
La Vie Boheme (RENT)
&, oddly enough,
Knights of the Round Table (SPAMALOT)

re: Piazza OBC vs. Now
 Mar 20 2006, 10:37:11 PM
Aaron Lazar graduated from my high school in 1994 so we (the theatre group) took a trip up to NYC to see him in Piazza and I was blown away by his voice. It's very rich, pure, and just gorgeous. I'm a very big fan.

AHH, broadwayboy430, I know EXACTLY what you mean about the overtures and first notes of shows. Chills. Adrenaline. Tears. I love it.
re: Sara Ramirez - this week on Seth's Broadway Chatterbox radio show!
 Mar 20 2006, 10:27:46 PM
The first time she appeared on Grey's, I was watching with one of my total non-theatre friends and I basically had a conniption. My friend was utterly confused at my squealing "SARA RAMIREZ, SARA RAMIREZ, OMG SARA RAMIREZ!!!"

I really want her and George to fall in love.

re: Songs That Have Made You Cry?
 Mar 20 2006, 07:01:25 PM
RENT: Will I; I'll Cover You (reprise).
WICKED: For Good. (I also have ridiculous emotional attachment to this song.)
GODSPELL: On The Willows.
THE LAST 5 YEARS: Nobody Needs To Know.

And the fact that I can list that many says an awful lot, as I never really cry.

re: If You Could Dine With Any Broadway Star, Who Would You Pick?
 Mar 12 2006, 12:41:14 AM
Eulgh! Such a hard question.
I would say Anthony Rapp, but I just met him last week, so let me think...

I guess I'd have to say Norbert Leo Butz, Matt Caplan, John Tartaglia, Sherie Renee Scott, or Idina Menzel.
Mostly Norbert though, so we can make babies.

re: the show that got you hooked
 Mar 8 2006, 09:27:32 PM
I'd have to say Wizard of Oz. I was about 2 or 3, and my temporary goal in life was to be Dorothy when I grew up. (Who am I kidding, temporary. Dorothy is still my dream role.)

Since then, my love of musicals has spanned to at least 40 more, my list of favorites starting with RENT and Wicked and undoubtedly ending with The Sound of Music.
