BACK TO THE FUTURE will transfer to Broadway in 2023
 Mar 7 2023, 01:05:05 AM

Personally, I thought it was the most fun musical I have seen in about a decade. And I thought the score fit perfectly within the context of the musical in the same way the mediocre score fits into the context of Book of Mormon.

Does it still have the political commentary video in Act 2?

2022-2023 Broadway Season
 Oct 26 2022, 11:42:25 AM

Speaking as a visitor who only makes it to NYC once a year, if I'm lucky, I just can't wait until my next visit. To me this is looking like one of the best and most exciting Broadway seasons in my memory.

Upcoming NYC Trip Cancelled!

Best of luck to you Bob. Very glad you are well enough to get the surgery. As others have said, Broadway will, luckily, be here for you, and you for it. Take care and take good care of yourself.

BACK TO THE FUTURE will transfer to Broadway in 2023

I very much enjoyed the show. Vernon, this is one time I don't agree with you on the music. Aside from a couple of numbers, I thought it was rather clever. I especially enjoyed the songs sung by Marty's girlfriend. And I agree with Jordan that Coles totally stole the show in every scene he was in. If he is coming to Broadway, it is a real bonus for them.

At my performance, the audience loved the show. I do have theater friends in the UK who did not think much of the musical. Th

Frankly, I can't wait to see this show. When I visit, it's number one.  I don't see how the people who already gave it raves can possibly change their opinion. It will get raves and people will see it and, from what I've read, love it and tell other people about it. So it won't be The Lion King or Mama Mia. Many people just want a quality musical.

I've heard great things about this show from people in my area who have seen it. I would love to see it when I'm out next spring. It is likely to get good reviews so it could pick up a lot of steam during the holidays.

Thank you, BWAY_nyc_fan, for joining the board yesterday in order to give us that splendid and succinct review. It will help balance out the 1500 word rave by Charles NcNulty of The Los Angeles Times who has won the Nathan Award for dramatic criticism.

BACK TO THE FUTURE - The Musical
 Oct 7 2022, 07:58:32 PM

I realize that there is a difference between good and wildly popular. But having seen Back To The Future in August, I believe it is both.

I am a big fan of the movie and I believe that the artistic team did a fabulous job making the transition from movie to musical while capturing the spirit of the story. I also felt that the performances were very good. I happened to think that Hugh Cotes as George McFly stole the show. And I had no problem at all with the music. To me it seemed

I miss Margo

I started following this site around 2004. What kept me coming back then were the stupendous, intellectually pure and insightful posts by Margo Channing. There are so many fine people with sharp intellect on this site but there has never anyone like him. Margo could dissect any production as if he was in the mind of the producers and writers. He lived theater as if grease paint flowed in his veins.  At the time, we all looked forward to his posts and marveled at his knowledge.

What is the lowlight of your theatre going experiences?

After the wonderful post by Theatre Fan3, I couldn't help reviewing, in my mind, so many thrilling times I have had as a fan and audience member. My experiences began as a volunteer teenage usher at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles over 60 years ago and continue to this day.

However, my most memorable experience was my first visit to Broadway to see My Fair Lady in 1960. At the age of 14 this was my first trip to NYC. I was beyond excited. Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison had alre

Too Old? (fans, not performers)

As a real fan and gray hair and older than 72, I would like to say that I think the movie score of The Little Mermaid by Ashman and Menken is one of the greatest ever written. The melodies are fantastic and the lyrics some of the cleverest ever written.  There are different tastes, not different fans.

ALMOST FAMOUS To Open On Broadway Fall 2022

EDSO. You may be correct about the COVID situation. I'm not sure. But I suspect and hope that this flood of new musicals in the fall will give Broadway some of the best new musicals it has seen for a while. Many productions have been put off and I suspect that no one is going to spend the money to put their horse in the race unless they feel they have a damn good horse. I hope they are all fabulous. I am old enough to embrace both Some Like It Hot and Beautiful Noise.  Broadway needs
