Yet Another Scary Case of Fan Foolery
 Aug 23 2025, 06:00:09 PM

"I thought someone said Roxy passed away"

Jordan, I posted that I thought he passed away but can't confirm it. It is one thing that he did not reply or read BWW PMs sent to him. It is totally another when me and another poster, sent him emails and got error message that the address did not exist. He was elderly man and not in good health which I why I made that assumption. I would love to be wrong but sadly I don't think I am wrong.

"Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but Mr. Roxy's posts are always fun too."

Quite a few years ago, "Mr. Roxy" recommended a book about Broadway in one of his posts. I got the book and loved it. I sent him a PM to thank him for his recommendation, but he never replied back to me. I could see that he never read my PM. I asked another poster who was friendly with him if he could send him a PM for me. Unfortunately, he got the same result I did w

What ever happened to Alice Ripley
 Aug 17 2025, 05:09:14 PM

"No, she won a Tony for giving one of the best musical theatre performances of all time."

I saw "Next to Normal" shortly after it opened with my daughter and Ms. Ripley was fantastic. My daughter wanted to do the stage door thing which was not crowded that night. Ms. Ripley was so nice to my daughter and noticed her NYU bag. She asked what classes she was taking and spent several minutes chatting with us about Broadway before heading home. The allegations were

Who's still out there from 2003?
 Feb 9 2025, 10:20:33 AM

It is pretty cool that there are quite a few members still here from the beginning. I signed up almost a decade later but still here over 10 years. I rarely post anymore, usually the monthly theater quiz and to create a tennis thread. Members come and go but I miss posters like "Artman" and "Mr. Roxy". I know "Mr. Roxy" drove some people crazy but he really did have a good knowledge of theater. Congrats to all the original members still around.

Robert Cuccioli Question
 Nov 17 2024, 09:54:42 AM

"It was absurd that James Naughton won the Tony over Cuccioli. Naughton coasted in an easy role and was just part of the Chicago sweep. Cuccioli’s stunt casting replacements were so bad they only emphasized how he had worked magic with a role(s) that can easily look ridiculous in the wrong hands. He was robbed."

I agree 100%. It is a shame the recorded version of J&H could not have been with him.

Robert Cuccioli Question
 Nov 17 2024, 09:48:04 AM

"Could it also be that his type, the solid, rock-operatic baritone, is not especially in demand in today's crop of shows?"

Good point. That is the type of response I was looking for when I posed the question. Thanks

Robert Cuccioli Question
 Nov 17 2024, 09:38:16 AM

"I’m sure the OP just used Christian Borle as an example, but it’s also worth noting that he and Cuccioli are selling completely different things. An actor’s type or brand or whatever you want to call it is definitely a key factor in how much they work."

You are correct, I was just using Borle as an example since he is constantly in some Broadway show. I understand Borle's brand is a lot more diverse and that allows him to receive more offers. In additio

Robert Cuccioli Question
 Nov 15 2024, 11:49:06 PM

"Doesn’t Robert do loads of regional and concert work? He probably just doesn’t like being in NYC."

He has lived in NYC for many years.

Robert Cuccioli Question
 Nov 15 2024, 12:13:49 PM

My wife knew Robert during his HS days at St. Mary's on LI. We went to see him in "Jekyll & Hyde" in 1997 and thought he was great; he would receive Tony nomination. He never appeared on Broadway again until 2011 in the disaster of a musical "Spider Man". My question is why he could not appear on Broadway again in almost 15 years and then somebody like Christian Borle constantly gets roles. Borle is great but it seems the minute he leaves one show he is cast in ano
