You all are so knowledgeable, thought I'd start a post with general tech type questions.
Saw Hello Dolly! Twice. Noticed that Taylor Trensch was the only actor with a big curved face mic., not the little head ones everyone else wears. It is distracting. Why does only he wear that style.
Also, this is probably the first show where I noticed the conductor so much. His hands where up high...his left hand constantly coaxing and directing, doing a dance of its own. It seemed no a

Two tips. Get there early, they will seat elderly before general crowd. Also, the theater is freezing when you first go in. Have her bring a sweater. They turn off the AC, so it does warm up.
Enjoy.Applaud. Repeat.

Saw it last night. Sheer joy. So much has been said of course. I just want to add:
Overture. Sounded better and fuller than expected. Audience applause as it started, then again, when the title number played. An excited house.
WOW! You were all correct about the color. The lights and design make this show pop in a surrealist energetic way. Brilliant.
Chorus: voices so strong and beautiful! Overall much better than the recording. Very surprised at the power and beauty .

Had an additional thought on Sunset Boulevard.
I agree with most of the positive comments on here, so don't want to re-hash.
I have been thinking a lot tho about this production, and the real soul/needs/wants of the characters. Would love to see a Steven Pasquale / Glenn Close pairing, or Steven with Jan Maxwell.

I also had front row seats. The good news is, you will be able to see Glenn Close, and cast very well, and feel the power of it.
The bad news is you will miss the effect of the B&W film projections, up close they look out of focus. Also, surprising to me, is that no one ever mentioned all the smoke! Agree.. You feel nothing for this child.. But it's not about her, script wise.
funny, I went back to you tube to watch the trailer for the film.
And in seconds, you felt for the child because she was scared and horrified.. This
Child isn't... And Ellen Burstein.. Empathetic , scared..
Saying the same line... But with modulation !
Not just anger scream-acting.... Even Chamberlain was stiff.

Im from NYC, was in LA to see the show....
There is so much lacking in this production.
I don't like being negative, but have to be honest.
I saw the original broadway prod. Of Agnes of God,
Amanda Plummer, Elizabeth Ashley.. And Geraldine Page..,
3 gifted actors that.. Mesmerized you.. Were in synch.. Had range...
You cared about them - Simply, great acting!
This cast generates no heat, empathy, excitement.
The servicable story ticks off the plot elements
