Wanna be in a show? AfterWork Theater, NYC's first and only tuition-based recreational theater program, is open for enrollment into the cast of our Spring Mainstage Musical production of SISTER ACT. No audition required.
Is it really possible? Check this out! AWT has produced more than 20 fully-staged productions open to absolutely anyone with the desire to rehearse and perform in a show. Rehearse one to three times per week depending on your availability. We've put together a first-rate creative team. We've rented a beautiful state-of-the-art theater in downtown Manhattan. Once upon a time...okay, last summer, AfterWork Theater produced our first ever Musical Bootcamp, a full-length concert version of Little Shop of Horrors, rehearsed and performed in just two weeks! The program was such a huge success that we're doing it again this Summer with Stephen Sondheim's musical mosaic, Into the Woods.
Once the show is cast, our professional creative team will lead you and your cast-mates through six rehearsals after work and on the weekends teaching you music, lyrics, and harmony to the entire show. Finally, cast and band will perform two performances of the show in concert (no sets, no choreography - just lots and lots of SINGING!) for an audience of family, friends and more! This will be a whirlwind celebration of one of the greatest musicals of all time.
AfterWork Theater is NYC's first and only tuition-based recreational theater program providing non-professional performers the oppurtunity to rehearse and perform plays, musicals, and revues in their spare time. Our programs are simply for fun and all are welcome to participate on a first come, first serve basis.

Wanna be in a show? AfterWork Theater's tuition based Sing Out! program is your opportunity to learn music and movement to your favorite Broadway show stoppers in a fun, no-stress environment. Whether it's your first time on stage or you're a seasoned performer, all our welcome! No audition required. Our professional creative staff will guide you through ten rehearsals just ONCE A WEEK (Tuesdays or Thursdays) where you'll learn everything from small group numbers to big ensemble numbers. Then it's curtain up as you perform the show twice for an audience of friends, family, and more! This season we're presenting Gender-Benders!, a musical revue in which participants will learn and perform musical numbers cast with a non-gender-conforming flair. Think: an all male rendition of Cellblock Tango followed by an all female performance of Grease Lightning! We make no guarantees in terms of song choices or assignments; however, participants will have the opportunity to request numbers in which they would like to perform. AWT is a recreational theater program creating opportunities for non-professional performers to rehearse and perform fully staged plays and musicals in NYC. There is zero experience needed to participate. Our professional staff will guide you through the process from your first rehearsal to your final bow.
