Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 1/5/25

Cripple of Innishman, with Daniel Radcliffe, at the Cort--was NOT a hit--it did NOT recoup--nor close to it.

And the Gershwin was considered one of the biggest flop houses (when it was the Uris), until it became POPULAR.

ALL IN: COMEDY ABOUT LOVE Previews

This was FUNNY.  John was barely "on book".  Same with Fred.  And the "book" eventually begins to feel like an intentional "gimmick". The actors are PERFORMING (ok they're sitting, but they are performing).  It IS worth seeing. PLENTY of laughs. Did some people walk out? Yes!  Their loss. Such a better evening of "theatre" than certain recent Tony winners (plays/musicals).

3 nights. 6 shows.

I was NOT a fan of Stereophonic--skip it--it's a long slog about nothing.  Do NOT miss The Roommate.  The play is not much, but you do get to see Patti AND MIA!!! You seem to WANT to see it--then SEE IT! You prob wont ever have the chance to see Mia again. If you are looking for a play, try HILLS OF CALIFORNIA--it's tough, but a terrific lead performance--and the rest are very very good. Go see SUFFS--it's an "admirable" show.  That doesnt sound like

I'm on the hunt for the following windowcards:

a) On Your Feet (qty 1)

b) Illinoise (qty 1)

c) Oh Mary! (qty 2)

As for the recoupment of OH MARY!, I would hope they would recoup by Sept 15th--since that was the original closing date. And, Im assuming the financials sent to potential investors had proposed recoupment by closing date. As for running costs, it is not likely to be half of musicals, but probably closer to two-thirds. Long may they reign!

Well...you could offer your tix for sale on the THEATR app.  if it sells, you can get a great seat to ILLINOISE--otherwise, Wilkommen for you!

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES musical will have pre-Bway tryout this summer in Boston

Thx for your reply! But by "new", I purposely wrote 5 yrs or less--I love much of the work of your 3 composers, but at this stage in their careers NONE of them are new. Esp since most of them have 3+ Bway shows each already. And, if you havent seen THE CONNECTOR yet---GO GO GO----nonetheless--the lyrics to this QoV song were not "dreadful"

I'd love to know why the lyrics are "dreadful"/"pedestrian."  I actually think they're quite clever and fun--esp at the top of the song. It's VERY Wicked-ish but without the Harburg-ian word extensions of made up words to make rhymes.  Yes, its tough cause he's stuck with "dreams" and "wishes" to make couplets. But nothing was clunky. What modern scores (5 yrs or less---written by the "new" generation) have been
