The vocals in their shows are generally performed live over a bed of recorded music, sometimes with a few other live instruments as well.

Out of town workshop question Jul 27

AEA AGMA SM, on the IATSE side of things, the hotel cost limit calculation only gets used at the "modified" and "SET" side of things. These generally equate to the AEA "tiered" and "SETA" levels, so I went back and re-read the relevant sections in the AEA production rulebook and it appears to me that the hotel cost section (on page 133) is only applicable to "tiered tours", as it's a subsection of "terms for tiered tours".

Actually, Broadwaystar2, on full production contract tours, the cast and crew are responsible for their own housing. Company management finds suggested options and negotiates some group rates with hotels, and a per diem is paid, but the housing is at the expense of the employee. A similar situation exists on some of the tiered contracts, though on those contracts there are rules about the maximum housing cost for the "official" options. And, as you say, on some contracts, the housing is simpl

So, I work in a front of house position that lets me observe which patrons' phones make noises and how they respond. I really believe that the vast majority of interruptions are from people who genuinely forgot to set their phone to silent. It's been on very rare occasion that I've seen a patron actually take a call and act as though it was their right to do so. I think that we could vastly improve the theatrical experience for people if we could make it much harder for well-intentioned audie

The band was 9 pieces. It wasn't divided into a white group and a black group. The two you could see in the first act were characters in Delray's club, so they were black, but the rest of the band wasn't race-specific. The band sat on three platforms: stage right held the bass, guitar, and key 2/organ; the center platform had the drummer and key 1 (who was also the MD); and stage left held the wind section - reeds 1, reeds 2, trumpet, and trombone. The platforms could all move upstage and dow

broadwayguy2, the walls on the SETA tour knifed into the deck. They were also pretty heavy. I think it would make a bit of a mess of marley. I'm pretty sure they kept the deck.

Big Fish: sound design Nov 15

"After the show, I did find the sound engineer and complained. She listened and asked a few questions, but basically seemed unfazed by my comments. I asked her if this was an ongoing issue or specific to this performance. She didn't seem to have an answer." I don't know the specifics of this case, but I just wanted to respond to this bit. There are so many factors going into each individual audience member's appreciation of a show's sound that it's unsurprising that every show will occ
