You've all under-estimated Batman! It is not what you think! It's a thrilling, phenomenal, feverish German cabaret / neo-Brechtian opera. The Gotham Ensemble is just amazing!! Batman is a really dark character. Joker is hysterical. It's the most insane and twisted version I've known of the tale. It's much like an operatic version of Burton's first film, so it's not comical or camp. It's quite tragic, really. Some fine music again from Steinman. Well, perhaps its time for someone to get out there and write another version of the show. There have been multiple versions of all the recent biggies on Broadway - Phantom of the Opera and Jeckyl and Hyde to name two. I have done both of the most well-known alternate versions of these shows and they were far superior to the ones which have been or are currently playing on Broadway. Kopit and Yeston's Phantom is a much better Musical Theatre piece and is much more entertaining than that Dreck of
