"She would be better off with you" Aspects of Love

'You walk with me' Full Monty

Finally saw "Die Mommie Die"

While I'm not entirely fond of the ultra commercial atmosphere of New World Stages, I did enjoy Die Mommie Die very much. Charles Busch is incredible and the show is in good shape.

For REAL edge, I suggest you take a look at works like John Adam's I Was Looking At The Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky. If you haven't heard it, it's an amazing album with Audra as well.

I was in a production that really tried to get into the Commedia thing heavy, it was a disaster. Maybe with a director who wasn't certifiable it would have worked, but she made every choose which Flower they were, and she would go around quizzing people on which flower they were at any moment. She was nuts.

Stay away from that, that's all I can say.

Yeah, I totally dont begrudge them at all, though. I'm overjoyed that they are selling well.
re: GODSPELL BROADWAY.....Who will they Cast?
 Nov 15 2007, 10:06:21 AM
I dont think anything (in my opinion) can top the INCREDIBLE 2000 off-Broadway Cast that I was fortunate enough to see. It was truly amazing. Special kudos to Shirley Temple of Doom, the incredible band that made the entire evening worth while.

re: Local One LJ goes after ATC
 Nov 14 2007, 11:05:48 AM
"The chat rooms there are mainly populated by frustrated Corky St. Clairs, pimply teen-queens and assorted wash-ups, has-beens and never-wases who all have an opinion about Broadway and how the industry works, none of which are actual informed opinions. "

That's pretty accurate.

re: Specific short lines or lyrics that give you chills

I think this line always makes me think of the Grammar Nazis on BWW

"And what is it that I meant to have wrote?"

"Written...."

Not a difficult score to sing. At. All.
re: West Side Story movie re-make
 Nov 8 2007, 04:12:54 PM
Actually, I can think of a lot of reasons to re-make this film. Not the least being to cast actual latino actors in the respective roles.

Regardless of how wildly successful is has become. It's fairly laughable to anyone not a fan of musicals who sees it now. For many reasons, including Natalie Wood.

Flute Flute Flute,
It's infinitely more enjoyable than Carmen

That looks incredible.

Id also like to see a major overhaul of the look of the piece. I'm really tired of the hyper-colorful mid-century look that we've been seeing a lot of.

Robbie: Fen?
re: Strouse: 'BIRDIE' Revival at Roundabout

Robbie: Really?

"Right off the boat from the tropics, far far away"

really? Since when was Spain tropical? Last time I was there it was temperate.

re: Strouse: 'BIRDIE' Revival at Roundabout

That's not true. Mae says 'Spanish' as a catch-all term to mean what we say today as Latino/a. So no, nowhere in the script should it be understood that Rosie is ever mistaken for European.
re: THE GOONIES coming to Bway
 Nov 8 2007, 11:03:31 AM
Goonies isn't sub-standard Americana by any means. It's a film that defines a generation.
