re: Alice Ripley's replacement in N2N?

Not that it would ever happen... but Toni Collette would be brilliant.
re: 9 to 5 Rush...?
 May 12 2009, 06:38:26 AM
The price was 36.50, no extra fees added.

I rushed on Sunday and was first in line. By the time they sold the tickets, there were probably 30 people in line. They told us they sold about 35 rush seats so after that some people counted down the line and just left anyway.

Does anyone know about the rush turning to lotto rumor? I keep hearing that from several people so I'm wondering if it's true. I heard Sunday was the last day for rush.

Toni Collette as Diana in Next to Normal.

Danny Burstein as Nicely Nicely in Guys & Dolls.

Bumping for a good cause... wish I had money for the Julie Andrews one!
re: Who should play Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls?

Danny Burstein would be PERFECT in that role.
re: Tony Awards Black Tie -- what's too fancy?
 Jun 13 2008, 08:23:01 AM

Even if you're sitting in the nosebleed seats at the Tony Awards, is it possible to be too dressed up?

My friend and I are going and both have long, fancy evening gowns/dresses to wear. It's kind of too close to Tony night to do anything about it at this point, but I like to know if advance if I'm going to look utterly ridiculous or not. :)

re: What Broadway stars would you LOVE a holiday album from?

An Alice and Emily holiday album would be phenomenal.

I would love to hear Emily sing "O Holy Night"

I was there -- and I stayed for the entire thing. Mostly because I'm a huge fan of Emily Skinner and was so happy to see her on that stage.

The whole thing was... interesting. Some of the songs I thought were alright - but, that might just be because Emily was singing them (for me, anyway). The story wasn't very strong.

I did laugh when Emily said "she was preggers!!" -- um, was that a term in the 1940's? lol.

re: Idina Menzel as Ursula?

Emily skinner OWNS Poor Unfortunate Souls. Recently hearing her sing it at The Kennedy Center was a religious experience.

AMEN. That was unreal. I had heard it on the Raw at Town Hall CD... but seeing it live, oh my God. She is perfect for that role.

who have you gotten stuff back from?
 Apr 20 2008, 12:19:00 PM

I got an incredibly sweet card/letter from Emily Skinner the other day. Took less than a week. :)

Also got a really sweet card from Beth Leavel about a week after seeing her out in San Diego.

re: Random Showtunes you like
 Apr 19 2008, 11:15:46 PM

There are so many from so many shows that I just can't get enough of... but LATELY, I can't stop listening to "Tunnel of Love" from Side Show. So random.

re: A song that you hate in a musical you love
 Apr 19 2008, 11:12:22 PM
Oh, I absolutely love "Private Conversation" from Side Show!

I'm not a big fan of "Two of a Kind" from Lippa's Wild Party.

Also:
"Sentimental Man" and "Wonderful" from Wicked
"Razzle Dazzle" from Chicago

And while I loved the revival of 110 in the Shade, I really can't stand "Hungry Men"

re: Who was the nicest Broadway actor or actress you met?
 Apr 16 2008, 09:57:46 PM

Beth Leavel is just the sweetest person I've ever met period.

Danny Burstein is a sweetheart. Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner were both incredibly kind as well.

And Julia Murney.

re: Ripley and Skinner at the Kennedy Center. Anyone else go?
 Apr 14 2008, 11:40:16 PM
Oh my God, "There's Always A Woman" was hilarious!

Especially -

Pet.
Lamb.
Dove.
FIIISH.

They were just so incredible on Friday night.

I also went to the concert. Both Alice and Emily were absolutely perfect. Hands down, the best concert I have ever been to - and completely worth the bus ride from NYC to DC and back!

Oh, and it was even worth getting drenched at the stage door when the monsoon swept in.

The entire night was just... amazing.

Yup. That's it.

See you in a few hours :)

re: Songs that never get old for you.
 Mar 28 2008, 10:32:40 PM
"Who Will Love Me As I Am?" and "I Will Never Leave You" from Side Show.

I was coming to say the same thing!

"As We Stumble Along" from Drowsy

re: Famous people who you saw at a broadway show

Cindy Williams was sitting two rows in front of me at Drowsy shortly before she dropped into the show

I totally forgot - Cindy sat in front of me a few nights before she started in Drowsy. She was so into the show, it was great :)

I saw Kelly Clarkson and Reba M. at Mary Poppins last summer. Kenny G was at Chicago last June.

Oh, and Paul Newman at 110 in the Shade last year.
