Bernard Herrmann (Psycho) and Nino Rota (La Strada) come to mind. Both are brilliant. Danny Elfman has said that both of these composers have had an influence on him.

Patti Lupone - Don't Cry For Me Argentina.
IMHO, that song belongs to her and no one else.

re: Favourite Theatre(s)

The Biltmore Theatre in NY, love reading about it's history and seeing pictures of some of the productions downstairs.

The Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto, it opened in 1907 and was rennovated in 1963 and is now an historic landmark.

re: For the jaded among us

Thank you for sharing that wonderful story with the rest of us.
It makes you realize that no matter what age or what the circumstances are, the experience of going to the theare is something to be treasured.
No one should be judged on what they see. Whether it's a performace of The Frogs or Wicked. It is a unique thing for all of us.
You mother is very fortunate to have a son like you.
That was a marvelous thing to do :)

Phantom of The Opera:

As my partner was suffering from dementia, he still wanted to go see the show. This would be the last thing he would see.
It was our fifth time seeing the show.
It was difficult for him to maintain his attention as he was like a little boy but, when he did, I will never forget the smiles or the pleasure that the Phantom gave him.
As I am typing this out, I am smiling at knowing how much he loved the theatre and this show.

re: sight unseen
 Jul 12 2004, 09:45:05 AM
Sight Unseen was good.
I am biased towards Laura Linney. She can do no wrong in my book and I thought she was terrific.
Byron Jennings and Ana Reeder were also good.
The only problem I had was with Ben Shenkman.
I loved him in Angels in America, he was amazing but, in Sight Unseen, I had trouble believing his character. I don't know if the character was poorly written or if he had problems playing Johnathan Waxman.

re: Did any go to Broadway Barks?

re: Worst Musical. Ever?!
 Jul 10 2004, 01:44:56 PM
If I can recall, the musical based on Harvey was titled: Say Hello to Harvey or something along those lines.
I don't know if it ever made it to Broadway.
All in all an expensive night of sleep.

That was my impression too.
I always thought Mimi's desperation in Another Day was two-fold.
She didnt want to lose Roger or her powder.

Marc:

Keep on posting, whether its about your animals or your work.
You are extremely knowledgeable and have a wicked sense of humor.

If you are blaming Canada or making people leave Hairspray with smiles on their faces, your talent is appreciated.

You make people laugh and smile. Looking forward to reading more from you, and oh yes, Golden Retreivers RULE!!
Thanks :)

A Canadian Marc
