Whatever ever happened to Sara Ramirez's solo album?
 Jul 21 2008, 10:29:25 AM
There was supposedly a rumor of her releasing an album with some JRB songs, Cabaret standards, and all out awesomeness.

Anyone have any info?

Thank you for all of your input.

I have the Toronto cast recording.

I tried netflixing the movie and it's not there.

Any video rental store should have it right?

I'm not too worried, choreography wise. We're talking a community theatre here so we're not going to be doing too many acrobatic/gymnastic flashy choregraphy.

I'm pretty well researched on the story. I just want to know which songs in the recording I need to familiarize myself with.

Okay.

I've checked out the dreaded wikipedia. I get the gist of the story and everything.

Not much about Frank.

All I can gather is, he shows up and sings "Goodbye My Lady Love" with Ellie....

Anything more anyone can tell me?

Auditioning for Showboat...

I’ve been told I should look at the part of Frank.

I’ve searched numerous locations to see if there’s a breakdown of a song-by-character listing, so I know what to listen to.

I can’t find one anywhere.

Can anyone who’s familiar with the show let me know what numbers Frank is in?

Anyone who can lead me anywhere that will help me familiarize myself with the show a little more?

Some of these suggestions are completely off the wall.

The best opening number is Invocations and Instructions to the Audience from The Frogs, and just manipulate the lyrics to the Putting it Together version (which I'm sure you can find on that site)

It was originally supposed to be the opening for Forum, but it got scrapped last minute, and replaced by Comedy Tonight.

Not many people do it. It's hilarious. How can you not laugh at the two lines "Please, don't far

Run Freedom Run from Urinetown?

There's certain ways you can turn that song into an all out belt fest. Same with the Act 1 Finale and Look at the Sky.

If we want to get technical.

"Grow for Me" doesn't end in "For Me" being sung.

It ends in "please...oh...pleeeeeease."

The final "grow for me" is spoken.

Just more of the symbolism in everything about this performance.

Everything has a purpose.

There is no superfluous blocking.

Every single moment has a meaning.

I love it.

"Yes, they cut the cymbals during previews in New York. The kazoo came in during previews, as well."

Do we know why?

I remember laughing my butt off at his reaction every time he crashed the cymbals...and I remember still having the heartbreaking moment after all the couple-solos.....

Hmmm.

I was lucky enough to catch opening night of Company in Cincinatti.

I seem to remember Bobby having cymbals during "What Would We Do...."

Was that a Broadway tweak?

Also, I was e-mailing a colleague of mine about the performance last night.

I never noticed this, but I totally agree with her:

"Here was the most brilliant stroke of all: Barbara Walsh speaking and moving her face like a woman who's had a face lift. Sheer perfection."

And Raul

Okay,

So I played Tom Daley in "That Championship Season"

For those not familiar with the show or character, a 37-year-old alcoholic racist.

Tom's drink of choice was Scotch and Water with no ice.

Because we performed the show in a Studio Theatre, they filled my bottle of Dewars with watered down Iced Tea, and my director wanted me to pour a drink and actually drink it.

I never poured a full glass, but by the end of act one, I made the bold acting cho

How about "Cheek to Cheek" from Top Hat.

That dress.

Those lifts that correspond with the swelling music.

I was just looking for a status update.

Per e-mails sent from the site, my CD was supposed to arrive in the mail today, yet I have still not received any confirmation that my package has even been shipped.

I’m just looking to see how much longer I will have to wait til my $30 is put to good use.

Best Regards,

I received this e-mail too:

"It's taking some time to get everything in order and processed. Mr. Album is basically a company of one, and overwhelmed and overjoyed at the number of orders lol. I really appreciate your patience.

Look out for the email when it has been shipped! You will be in the first batch!

Mr. Album"

I ordered my CD at 1:30 PDT on Tuesday.

Still have not received shipping confirmation.
