re: Wicked Movie Question  Jul 17 2009, 11:11:28 PM
I think that if he wanted to, Joel Grey could def. reprise his role as the Wizard.

Meryl would make a pretty good Madame Morrible.
or maybe Julie Andrews.

I can't think of anyone for the other characters though. It all depends on the "superstar du jour" at that time.

re: Wicked Movie Question  Jul 17 2009, 02:31:24 AM
One film adaptation I'm excited for:
Jack Goes Boating.
I love the cast, and never got to see the play, so I'm excited about seeing it.

Phillip is directing, which I'm sure will be interesting.

re: Wicked Movie Question  Jul 17 2009, 01:56:19 AM
I want Tim Burton to direct it.
I think it'd be hilarious- it'd give me a reason to go see it.

re: Wicked Movie Question  Jul 17 2009, 01:37:48 AM
Two words: Miley Cyrus.

I'm not surprised that the date has been pushed back so much.

RENT was slated to be directed by Spike Lee in 97.
But then it sodomised by Columbus in 05.

I think the fan-base'll help it achieve marginal success, but that doesn't really say anything about it's integrity as a film.

re: RENT tour thread  Feb 1 2009, 07:03:09 PM
Why, why, why do people keep posting on here?!

You're just feeding her attention (and by the sound of it, the last thing you need is to be fed), and she likes it.

Danmag, I really hope you are able to enjoy the show, and that there you won't have to resort to launching pens at every "oriental" person you see out of fear.

I hear the tour is amazing.

Celra, I'm convinced you have a psychosis of some sort. You're being ridiculed, and you enjoy it. Clearly you'

re: Jennifer Lopez - In The Heights  Feb 1 2009, 06:55:05 PM
I think she'd be made the salon-owner.

What I'm interested in seeing; the film cast.

I hope they learn fromst past mistakes, but don't go over board with casting A-list celebrities.
If Mario Lopez becomes involved, I'm moving.

You're gonna love it! (at least I hope you will)
Either way, have fun!

re: Renthead Survey for Term Paper  Jan 21 2009, 07:27:03 PM
How old where you when you saw Rent for the first time?
-14

What was your reaction of the show the first time you saw it?
-The first time I saw it live I was blown away. I had always been one of those people who didn't think that musical theatre could have an impact on anyone, or be profoundly moving, but this show proved me wrong. It was a spectacle; I remember thinking how "cool" it was to have music blare out of the speakers like at a concert and how enthralling the entire e

re: In the Heights Tour  Jan 20 2009, 11:06:02 PM
It seems that they auditioned any alumni who were interested (who specifically: I don't know, but there was a notice backstage near the entrance).

The auditions have been pretty sparse. There was barely anyone there when I went.
It'd be nice to have some fresh faces though.

re: RENT Tour -- What were the changes??  Jan 20 2009, 11:03:49 PM
1. Ensemble brings out tables during opening monologue.
2. Lighting changes (fake fire, red during Tango)
3. Some parts of the eulogies are said in unison.
C'est tout.
Anthony made it seem bigger thatn what it really was at the end of the day.

re: RENT's JED RESNICK on WEBSERIES!  Jan 19 2009, 10:41:07 PM
He's also cute in a very odd way.

That show was pretty random, but still, Jed and Kristen are incredibly talented performers. They're actors, and they're pretty good at what they do. I think that's all that matters at the end of the day.

re: Rent tour??  Jan 19 2009, 11:50:27 AM
The changes made to the tour are:

1. The ensemble brings out the tables during Mark's opening monologue.
2. Changes in lighting (red during the Tango Maureen, and fake fire from that trash-can).
3. Some parts of the eulogies are said in unison.

That's all I can remember (and I think that's all there is really).

If you want anymore updates check out the RENT tour thread. You'll find reviews, thoughts, comments and annoying fans, all in one place.

Goodbye Spring Awakening!

It was nice while it lasted I s'ppose.

re: do you think the people in Phantom get tired of the show  Jan 18 2009, 11:28:01 AM
You'd be surprised.

Every "whip guy" is different. You may have one who is very appreciative of being the whip guy because he realises that barely anyone makes it in the first place, and that there are hundreds of people dying to be the whip guy. But then there are others who are just dying to get out of there.

If I were in that situation I'd say, "F**k, if I have to be a whip guy, then I'm gonna be the best damn whip guy that I can be!" I think any actor who loves their job w

re: Overanalyzed Shows  Jan 18 2009, 11:19:50 AM
I think that every show is, to an extent, over-analysed.

People have gotten so accustomed to everything needing to have some deeper meaning. With some shows, things just are what they are. It's okay if they're two-dimensional.
And I love that avatar Wanna Be A Foster!

re: How is a performer's employment set up?  Jan 12 2009, 01:16:51 AM
Hmm, but didn't I say that most actors have jobs on the side that they fall back on?

I also recall saying that in most cases they renew contracts or find other gigs, meaning that most actors (one way or another) don't really apply for unemployment.

I believe that those who do go about it the same way as the rest of the world.

So wouldn't you say I answered the question, Tag?

re: How is a performer's employment set up?  Jan 12 2009, 01:05:08 AM
..

Okay, either I'm a sodding fool, or you didn't exactly answer the question either.

How is it that an actor is self-employed?
Are you talking about in the case of them owning the production company?

re: How is a performer's employment set up?  Jan 12 2009, 12:59:02 AM
Why thank you, Tag.

My pleasure. :)

Why don't you take a wack at it then?

re: How is a performer's employment set up?  Jan 12 2009, 12:53:03 AM
Okay I'm gonna simplify everything.

Here are the basics:

Equity=contract.
Non-equity=varies.

*When contract expires you can: A) Renew, B) Get another gig (mind you, most performers who aren't big names have second jobs on the side), C) Ask your mom for money, D) Cry over how pathetic life is now that you're no longer "Sailor #3" and sulk over Ben & Jerry's and reruns of The Golden Girls.

That's pretty much how it works.

I'm not sure how it works i

re: Ave. Q Tour?  Jan 12 2009, 12:37:24 AM
I saw it all the way back in May.

Though the cast has changed (from what I know) it was def. worth seeing. Very good performances and a talented cast.
