Thank you Vicious... I will now check things before speaking prematurely... I feel like a turd... I appreciate your help!!! Next time, no more 3am posts!
re: re: re: James Joyce's The Dead  Jan 22 2004, 03:07:08 AM
Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner (who you surely know were in the show) recorded the song "Ballyhannon" on their Unsuspecting Hearts CD. It was a song sung by Blair Brown and Christopher at the end of the first act, if I'm not mistaken... It's soo late and I really don't want to get my Playbill out. (sorry)!

There is a show called Tapestry, with all Carole King Music, but I'm not sure if it has a book, or if it's just merely a concert-type revue.

re: re: re: re: re: 'Taboo Will Get a Cast Album' - Playbill News  Jan 20 2004, 01:03:16 PM
Hmmm, I'd tend to agree with MisterMatt, as usually, they announce the record label that will be releasing the recording.

But I have a question... do you think Taboo would have done better with a release of the recording long before the show ever debuted? In an Evita/Jesus Christ Superstar sorta way.
I only ask this because I too enjoyed the songs in the show and most likely have been very eager to see the show.
thanks,
avid.

Scars  Jan 19 2004, 09:37:23 PM
I have a scar, though no where on my face, and while it doesn't bother me, I know that I could never do The Full Monty... So, even though it took me years to be cool with it, it sucks that I can't wear certain clothes/costumes. My advice: Go with what you got, it makes you unique.

My favorite part of SHOWGIRLS is when it's aired on VH-1 (which is at least once a week it seems) and during the scenes where they're topless, they've digitally added bras!!!
Too funny!

As I understand it, she's back, but was sick that night...
That's what the dude at the box office said!!

Ramblings and Questions  Jan 14 2004, 12:51:52 PM
Hello there... I went to see TABOO last night (prior to knowing it was closing). I was in the city and got 50% off tickets, so that was a plus. I knew it was in trouble (not that it would take a rocket scientist to get that one) when we got tickets 4 hours prior to curtain and they were 5th row center. Anyway, I saw many understudies. Boy George was out, as was Liz McCartney and Sarah Uriarte Berry. But I have to say... it wasn't bad. I expected piss and horror on that stage, only because
re: re: I Got the POTO Cast Album!!!!  Jan 9 2004, 09:40:27 PM
Do you mean an advance copy somehow of the Movie Cast Album, or the one from 1986/87?

While I don't have the answer to Bulldog's question, I have pondered this also and my thoughts are that in the past (say 2+ years ago) when thinking about a show I've just seen, I soak it all in, and maybe have the chance to talk about it with a few people.
Nowadays, with the internet and boards like this, there are a varied range of opinions, praises, critics and everything in between. While I would never trade the opportunity to talk about my love of theatre with the people on the board, I

Movie Ursula  Jan 6 2004, 09:07:59 PM
Does anyone know who provided the singing voice for Ursula in the Movie version??
re: re: re: re: re: re: Upcoming Shows  Jan 6 2004, 04:36:41 PM
Actually, Jason Robert Brown (according to his website) is said to be working on the aforemetioned Betty Boop musical...
odd, but who knows? maybe fun!

Mister Matt:
You clarified my point better than I did... I agree with you.
When I say he crafted his novel after the movie, I meant that he kept some changes the movie made that deviated from the original book (most notably, the switch to Ruby Slippers from... what was it? Crystal? Something other than rubies!)
that's all!

Thanks for the correction... I didn't feel like looking it up as I typed that!
With appreciation, d.

re: re: re: re: Wonderful, David  Jan 6 2004, 12:38:01 AM
Bernadette88: No, in the novel, his wife is named Melina. He and Glinda don't really have a big love thing going on in the book.

And Roscoe: You're certainly a douchebag... If you've read the book, you'll know that the character of Elphaba has NO closure on Fieryo. Maybe because she doesn't want to believe he's dead, Maybe because that's how Maguire wanted it. I didn't write the book, just my interpretation of it. And that's what this whole board is about: INTERPRETATION.
I agree

re: re: Wicked: The Spoiler Debate...  Jan 5 2004, 03:16:21 PM
Gregory Maguire took some liberties with the story, and what I mean by that is, he fashioned his novel very closely to the movie, however, even the movie deviated from L. Frank Baum's original stories too.
For instance, Maguire's book, yes, Fieryo is not the scarecrow. Elphaba thinks he might be a scarecrow she sees, but then once all his stuffing is out, she realizes it can't be him. It kind of leaves it open ended. I think the musical does well to complete its plot line by making this

Just Returned from England  Dec 30 2003, 09:25:29 PM
Hey everyone!
I hope you all had a great holiday, and happy new year!
I spend Christmas in Manchester, England and then went onto Ireland. In Manchester, Grease (the version that premiered with Debbie Gibson) is STILL playing over there, at the Palace Theatre. I caught it and I have to say it was soooooo odd!
All these English folks trying to do American accents!! I actually prefered the Broadway revival with Rosie.
But there is a lot of theatre there (outside of London) and it is

I'm not.
re: re: re: Little Shop AD to Wicked AD  Dec 20 2003, 10:38:59 AM
Most likely the LSOH Marketing team paid for so much time, and didn't want to pay anymore, or their contract was up.
It's not personal...
And since the space was available, the Wicked billboard went up.
That's all!
