Just for comparison of what LJay and Orange Skittles were discussing, here are the attendance records for Rent and Chicago several months prior to the release of Chicago the movie.
2002:
July 29 - August 4 Rent 73.2% Chicago 60.0%
August 26 - September 1 Rent 93.8% Chicago 67.3%
September 9-15 Rent 60.1% Chicago 40.8%
October 7-13 Rent 83.3% Chicago 82.3%
October 14-20 Rent 89.9% Chicago 71.8%
November 4-10 Rent 87.2% Chicago 78.6%
November 18-24 Rent 76.2% Chicago 66.3%
December 9-15 Rent 89.9% Chicago 71.9%
This is just a sampling (I clicked on random dates at http://www.playbill.com/news/search/?list_skip=100&keyword=&feat_loc=&Writer=§ion=7) but it seems that Rent was closer to selling out than Chicago prior to the release of the movie and that Chicago numbers weren't as good as they are post movie.
You guys can continue your discussion, but I just hate it when people talk without facts.

Hi Anthony. Is there any chance that Halloween was added back in? I know that its not a very important number in terms of plot, but I just think it shows such raw and great emotion. Anyways, thanks for answering all these questions... its really getting me excited for the movie.
