Yes, it wasn't as over the top but it still had the purpose of mocking performance art, it was huge here in NYC in the late 80's and trust me there was plenty to mock about it, thats why no one does it anymore.

I feel thats impossible its an integral part of the plot of the movie, we can't just look at our favorite songs but the parts that move the narrative forward, Act I builds up to Maureen's entrance and wether or not Roger and Mark would take Benny's deal to stop Maureen's performance. Her performance is hysterical and people will laugh in the theatre. Those who will go to see this film know what performance art is and Over The Moon mocks it beautifully, I can see a packed house laughing hysteri

SUre I can clarify the libretto connection. In the libretto if the screenwriter reads he can write his filmic scenes that are not seen in the play they were supposed to be in the viewer's imagination, where they were etc (not for all the scenes but for quite a few). I picture an increbidle Christmas Bells shot on the actual St. Mark's Place in the East Village. I also picture an excellent Happy New Year Scene that just doesn't have a padlocked door to indicate where they are in the play. It'

I'd have to disagree with you about Jai, i really thought Wilson Cruz did a much better job as Angel than Jai, actually i didn't like Jai at all in Rent.

i too have seen adam recently and he doesn't look different at all, btw im a filmmaker and yes age is easy to take care of and the only one theyd have to worry about is Daphne and her role has been cast.

what to look forward to in the film and oscar nods Oct 30
2004, 08:49:42 PM
a REAL shame if what you own is in the credits, that scene should be roger driving back from Santa Fe and Mark in New York, its almost their makeup scene. I am particullary looking forward to Another Day and Take Me or Leave Me. As far as oscars go, if you read the libretto of the play which i hope the screenwriters did, it explains where every scene takes place which is hard to discern in the play. It's up to Chris Columbus to take Rent to a filmic vision, and working with the OBC actors the

Whoa, you are not in charge of this thread the moderators of this site are and you just told me that i get riled up when you told someone to "Shut Up", now that is incredibly insulting, where do you get off? Practice what you preach and i do think maybe you are getting to big for your britches here.

Firstly, I never took it as an insult, it just doesn't belong on this thread regardless if two people have decided they want to discuss politics on this thread, many other threads on other message boards to discuss that, and as far as your riled up comment is just about as insulting and the newbie comment is just as insulting, and by the way you are crazy if you think im going to read 22 pages of posts in their entirely, i browsed through them all and posted and its my right too. I never intended to imply that you are a dummy. I too got a 5 on my AP American History. And when I was sixteen, I too thought I knew everything about the political process, but that was only academic knowledge and AP American History did not cover foreign policy very well. I just feel that if you have an agreement to speak politics with another member, do it on another thread or do it privately with your emails. I'm sure im not the first person who has come to this thread and seen the long p

Hey there Id be more than happy if all five take the film. I think the smartest move to make and this whole age thing is ridiculous, Adam looked to old when he was OBC and that didnt matter. Im a filmmaker and theres alot you can do with age, its not a problem. Mimi has been cast I forget the name right now and Angel is down to a few people according to Variety. Do you have a source that its concrete that these people have officially signed on, cos the latest Variety update is still saying

I respect your political opinion even though I disagree with wholeheartedly You are only 16 and have ALOT to learn about politics and im sure historical foreign policy, but WHY WHY WHY bring it up on this thread, there are plenty of other message boards where you can do this. Just stop before fights break out.

OBC ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO SHOULD DO THIS FILM Oct 30

hey there, I met Idina about 10 times and hung out with her at a bar with other obc cast members and its my opinion but I do personally know her and she was a whiner and a pain in the ass. Ask any other Rent Head from 96-97 and they would agree with me. And as i purused through this thread I saw alot people being anti-OBC in the film without ever seeing them live, the OBC recording was recorded very early and is not a good representative of what the show was with the OBC so please do not b

THE OBC ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO SHOULD BE IN THE MOVIE!!!! I saw the OBC at least 30-40 times and they were the best ive seen with the exception of idina and freddie. They all still look as young as they did (i live in nyc and have seen Anthony, Adam, Taye, and Daphne) except for Daphne and who cares about that since Mimi's part has already been cast. And btw this is not a rumour its in all the papers including Variety that they are willing to even work around, Anthony's, Adam's, Taye's, Jes
