I was blown away this morning when I saw adams wife cybele. I was telling her how much I liked civilian and how adam needed to do more concert dates to support it when she informed me adam was in L.A. as we spoke meeting with chris colombus, the director of the film version of rent, speaking to him about possibly recreating the role of roger for the screen. she also told me they are trying to get alot of the original cast to do the movie, which would include taye diggs, jesse L martin, idina menzel, daphne rubin vega and anthony rapp.
and just a not a 2nd joes pub date has been officially added for nov. 27th

You're typing for the Rent movie?
Chris Columbus is directing RENT?! Yeah, that'll be edgy.
He's there for the role of Roger. A roll would be what he had for breakfast.

LOL!
Can I just say - shoot me now.
wow.
yes, that's all I have to say. Can't say I saw this coming, if it's the truth. And if it is, I think I'm going to need about nine days to process this information... possibly longer.
I was abit taken back myself when she told me thathe was in L.A. for the rent movie. I wasnt sure adam would still wanna do it after all these years. I mean from the very start of rent being workshoped till now its been about 10 years.
National/Int'l. exposure, is all I'm sayin'.

I was kind of wondering if this would happen after I recently saw something about Anthony Rapp meeting with the director.
Maybe it's going to be a sequel to the Broadway show, something along the lines of RENT: THE CORPORATE YEARS
*is still in shock*
*is still confused*
I think maybe I should go out for a bit....
Well, I'm surprised at this.
*follows Emcee*
come, TGIF. Let's go for a walk.
I...uhh.. well...its...ummm...
*sigh*
Ok.
*goes for walk with Emcee*
It would be nice to see the cast reunited -- it would be nicer if they were 8 years younger!
So, basically, they could save money by just editing a filmed version of the original cast on Bway - Dolby Surround -----
I would like to see Matt Caplan as Mark and the original Joanne and Idina to com eback - that's about all I care - and maybe Jai and Jesse
wow. This is really surprising to me. I didn't think they would ever get any of the original cast to do Rent again, on-stage or on-screen. I've read that Idina won't ever do it again unless it's the entire OBC, and I think the others have expressed similar sentiments. I'm still processing, like Emcee and TGIF, but at first thought I think it would be amazing.
Keep in mind that (no offense, b-way buff)
(1) this may not be true, and
(2) if it is true, Adam and the other original cast members may still not be cast, and
(3) if they do end up in the movie, this will probably necessitate a few script changes, and
(4) there have no doubt been script changes anyway - that always happens in movie adaptations.
Adam Pascal did stay with the original production for longer than most of the original cast members, and he and anthony rapp originated their respective roles in the london production.
Therefore he clearly has had past interest in playing the role multiple times, I wouldn't be surprised if he opted to take on the part once more.

Hehe. Thanks for the laugh, Rath.
RENT II: MORTGAGE... and it takes place in the suburbs of NY.
RENT II: Lease - I think that was said...meh
I though Adam Pascal was the perfect Roger....last century....I feel like his voice is going
"I feel like his voice is going."
ooh, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. You should have heard him sing "One Song Glory" last week.
well chloe im not sure how it may not be true since adams wife is the one that told me he was out in l.a. meeting about the movie. i didnt say he or any of the original cast were definitly going to be in the movie, all i said was that they were talking about it.
I'm positive he said that he'd only do RENT again if the whole OBC was back. I'm actually surprised that he's talking about doing it.

I agree 1000000%. He sounded AMAZING(even if he did forget the words). His voice is still there.
At this point, anyone who casts Jesse L Martin or Daphe Rubin Vega in the Rent movie is either blind or on crack.
Anyway, put Idina Menzel back in the role she originated here and you've made me a happier customer.
Yup, voice definitely not going. You should've heard Glory last week. Sans some minor lyrical issues, it was perfect.
And guys... the OBC is just... they're too old. It's so unrealistic to think that they'd go and do this. Adam has said on multiple occasions that he wouldn't do RENT without the rest of the OBC, but who am I to contest what's true and what's not?
