This is especially embarrassing considering my username, but I've never quite understood why the trouble with poet is, how do you know it's deceased?

I'm 15. I didn't really care for musicals until I discovered Sondheim (through the Sweeney Todd film, I'm ashamed to admit), and over the past few years my love for his work has grown. Living in a small town in England, I haven't been exposed to much musical theatre - new or old - so I haven't grown up with a particular era.
