Having done LSOH in High School, It's all about timing - You eventually get everything down like clockwork. The rhythms of the voice and action of the plant did take some time to get down. Sliding down the plant (we rented a plant from NY) was awesome - I'm sure the Broadway one was similar. Just kinda come out the back. With the right lighting and set we never had a problem hiding it. I know this is a couple of pages back (73, specifically), but the avatar for cantthinkofanythinggood is a photo of me - on Castro and 18th right around new years last month. Wow... Small world, eh? Wow, how powerful to have Julie and Al Larson at rehearsals! It's overwhelming realizing that Jonathan’s message in song has sustained and, in many ways, grown in its appeal over the years. I was thinking of different musicals and their 'big number' and had a hard time coming up with something similar in terms of being controlled chaos. It's hard to try and imagine different choreography in its place. I thought "Go-Go Joseph" from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" came close, but not nearly individualized as the characters as La Vie are. speculations, speculations... la vie boheme... It's the biggest dance number in the show and although it's well choreographed it has the sense of spontaneity. I love the head bobbing/hand gestures the first few lines of music - It always cracks me up! I've been the The Life Cafe and it's packed with colors and culture that's amazing (Even the bathroom!)
