re: Latifah is denied the role of Effie
With all this discussion, no one has mentioned the real Effie, Florence Ballard. And while Flo may have been "the" heart & soul of The Supremes, her voice was nowhere as good as Holliday's. I once heard a rumour...back in the mid-60s, the were talks of casting Florence in an all-black version of Hello Dolly. Does anyone know if this is fact or fiction.
