I haven’t seen the show since opening, what different direction?

100% agree with this assessment and thought I was losing my mind seeing all the positive reviews. I was completely underwhelmed and said repeatedly after it was like watching a high school performance of Funny Girl. Beanie had cute acting moments and is most comfortable in the humorous “bit” scenes but otherwise is way out of her depth the entire way through.
